What is going on with my climate controls? The unit lights up and functions, but when the display does not come on I can not control any of the functions. If the Air Conditioning is on, and I want to turn it off, I can't if the display is not on. It will usually function in the last setting it was left in.
I think I finally know what is going on....the control unit seems to be slow with starting up. Sometimes it starts up right away, other times takes 30 minutes, and sometimes it doesn't start up at all. It acts like a computer when it goes to the blue screen, it may or may not go to the main screen. Any solutions to this problem without replacing the control unit. I have checked out prices at a Chevy dealership and it will cost $700 dollars to replace with out labor. I have gone to ebay and I found some for about 275. Any other places I can look?
Keep in mind to shut the system off/back on, you press the drivers side **** in (the same way you shut the radio off and on).
Now if this not the problem,
The try to pull the button out by hand, and press it in again. The control **** pots can wear out (not spring back out on there own) and may be the problem.
As for if it none of the above, then it's a cold solder joint that is acting up instead. The quick fix it to just pull the controller, pull it apart, then go through the solder joints with a solder iron to re-solder the connections to correct a cold solder joint.
Now if you are looking for a replacement unit, and short of getting a refurbished unit that someone has already gone through and re-soldered the joints to correct any cold solder joints, might be better to just by a new one then someone problem child they are trying to pawn off themselves.
