I have found a transparent top that i wanted to get but has some crazing?? in it i guess. Is this common on all tops? If not can someone put a value on this.
A brand new plastic top without the frame and hardware can be had for about $700. A new one complete for about $1200. If you can get the crazed one for $200-250 and replace the plastic top you have a brand new unit for less than a grand which ain't too bad. At least you know what you have. Buying a second hand one is a roll of the dice. If it was cleaned with ammonia based glass cleaner it's probably a time bomb.

I've never seen available the plastic top only without the frame. Since they are glued together its sold as all one piece. What's usually done is the clear roof panel is sold without hardware (latches, weather strips) and those are taken off the painted roof and transferred over.

There is/was a Lexan transparent replacement panel offered by a forum supplier a couple of years ago. As I recall it is supplied by GM and is called a "crash" replacement. It was noted on this forum in a transparent top thread and is probably in the archives if anyone has an interest.

Right. The crash replacement top is the entire top including frame but without latches or side weather strips and no guide pins. All of that gets transferred from the "crashed" top.
