A Carrera S?
wow , you paid how much for a NON Turbo P car ?
I dont have a problem with you selling the GS but to get a non turbo model is straight up bitch!
If your gonna step up , then step up.
Having said, I coudlnt agree with you more about GM quality or lack there of.

Not a fan of the C7 yet, and I am liking the smaller size of the 911, it feels lighter (though 3200 lbs) and it FEELS quicker, than the Vette, though 80 hp less.. Very fun to drive!
The 911 is considered by most educated car fanatics to be one of the greatest sports cars of all time. This sentiment has remained constant for as long as it has been in existence. Not everyone loves the way it looks (I'm personally not a fan). But few can fault the way it drives and handles. On the other hand ....."there is no substitute".....for an American V8.
Congrats to the OP for the awesome new ride.

It is embarrassing that for YEARS I have been saying "yea but its a VETTE!!" to folks who question why the workmanship is so sorry. There has been no excuse that such an iconic sports car has such a crappy interior. And its not just the interior. The workmanship and materials are all superb on the Porsche...it just doesn't go quite as fast.

We each have our own list of requirements that our toys must meet.
Being fun to drive is one of them. (important to me) Everything I've heard about the 911 is that they are one of the most fun cars to drive that is available.

[QUOTE=MakoShark72;1587597634] But you must have seen your GS and it's crappy interior BEFORE you bought it. Why complain now. The workmanship on my '13 GS has been perfect. Not a squeak, rattle, pop or noise anywhere. Every piece of the interior is perfectly aligned as is every body panel and nothing is out of place.

I love me some 911. My father has 2, and I've tracked his '09 Carrera S. It's probably not as fast as my GS, but it's close and the flat 6 makes a great sound (IMO better than the LS3). It's also a lot more engaging to drive, the rear engine really exaggerates the weight transfer of the car, so it's a very mentally engaging car to drive. My dad and I talk crap back and forth constantly about which car will whip which car's *** on the track. It's likely a driver's race, though admittedly my car on paper has some advantages.
Honestly, I've have one if I was willing to spend the money for one. But I'm not. I could probably get into a high mileage one, but I'm not willing to go older and more high mileage, despite the fact that the cars are built well and solid.
The biggest downside to owning a Porsche, especially 911? HIGH parts costs. Think the Corvette tax is bad? Check out what an exhaust or some sort of random part for a 911 runs. It's flat out robbery.

Your new car is fantastic! Congrats!
I love Porsche. May be my next car too.
In several years. I upgraded the heck out of the
Interior on my GS. So I'm keeping her a while.

Cant knock you for wanting to try something new out. I had a low mileage 986 2000 boxster a while back... I will never own another Porsche unless it has a great warranty. Water pump, electrical gremlins, etc. When it was good, it was a blast to drive though! I've always been a big fan of 997s but I'd much rather deal with interior fit and finish issues (which the vette) will have in comparison) than mechanical and electrical issues (which the 997 will have at some point). Not just speaking out of my rear either, I worked at an independent Porsche shop for a little while.

Back in the day I had a 1973 911T (yellow) which I would take to Summit Point for Drivers Ed. We would field 100 or so Porsches and maybe we would one or two in a week end needing a tow home. I moved up to a 79SC and it too ran without problems for a bunch of week ends. I took a 79 Mustang 5.0 to the track once. It lasted 3 laps. I quit doing drivers eds four years ago because the new Porsches were so fast it was scarring me. The Carrera is a great solid car and well above my 2009 C6 in quality and fun to drive. My 1991 C4 vert was a pig in comparison.
Bottom line, a Porsche is best driven hard and put away wet. Drive a Corvette that way and you will be visiting a mechanic more often than you would want too.

Congrats on your new beautiful ride.
I don't have to tell you (and many are afraid to admit) that Porsche is one of the finest sports car icons in the world. You have two very special ones that I hope you enjoy very much. I have never owned one and I am jealous of those that do.
But, as you also probably know, be sure to bring a fat wallet when you need to visit a dealership. Porsche's reputation for exceptional performance is only exceeded by their reputation for insanely expensive parts and repair costs.

Nice trade, I'd give a 911S a try if the deal was right, except I'm not sure I 'd go for one with that rear spoiler thing. Anyway, that's a nice car, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Congrats on your new car! So many wonderful cars out there and you're lucky to have owned a couple of the best IMO. I was torn between Porsche, BMW and Corvette when I bought my C6. I'm thinking about adding another one now. But it will be a C3 -- I guess you already know why
Enjoy your new Porsche!!
