This was surprising to us also, we didn't know it was for a TV show until afterwards. They just called us and asked if we could over night a kit to them.

I actually haven't seen it yet myself, I do not get the Velocity channel at home.

Jessi Combs currently holds the women's land speed record of 392 MPH. So apparently she can drive too. This is at least her second show. She used to be on one that modified 4 wheel drive and off road vehicles. I also remember her on a car show where she competed in various events, like drifting, road racing etc. against her male cohost and she always beat him. But he was kind of a dork.

I hope he's not a CF member!
