Default Probably a really stupid question on engine

2008 Victory red C6...On each side of the engine there are 4 armed what looks like aluminum metal bolted to the sides of the spark plugs. What are these called? What would you clean them with?

Thanks

There is nothing connected to the spark plugs except the plug wires and they aren't bolted to the plugs.

Are you talking about the sheet metal coverings (heat shields) for the exhaust manifolds?

Heat shields I think....what to clean them with? I also want to do all the engine hoses....would I use a general cleaner and then 303?

Probably the heat shields. Four on each side of the engine would be the best clue if we cannot see a pic

I have a huge collection of smileys, many of them "adult only," lol.

Other "armed" smileys:

From the OP: "On each side of the engine there are 4 armed what looks like aluminum metal bolted to the sides of the spark plugs."

I don't even know what the "armed" is supposed to mean.

At any rate,

You'll never get an answer to your question unless folks know what you're talking about.

So,...

The best engine cleaner I've ever used is Mr. Moto Wash. That would probably do the trick.

just when you warm up the engine, before spraying any degunker, don't touch those "armed" thingies to make sure its hot enuff.Might take awhile for your fingerprints to grow back.
