I broke mine to speed things up but not very much $$ to replace. 
Come to think about it you might be able to just loosen the surround and pull the base out from under it.

You have to remove the radio surround first. After that the console base is a breeze. Radio surround is a little of a chalange, power outlet is the hardest. I broke mine to speed things up but not very much $$ to replace.
Come to think about it you might be able to lust loosen the surround and pull the base out from under it.
