I just traded my c5 in for a 2007 c6. The car is completely stock and I'm looking at putting an exhaust system on it. I've listened to as many clips as I can and done research on both Borla Atak and Corsa Extreme. I want a deep, throaty muscle sound that really makes the car roar (it's fine if it pisses the neighbors off). I've read some conflicting opinions that say Corsa gives the European sound but others say it gives the throaty sound. I've also head Borla gives a deeper, throatier sound than the Corsa. Is this true and which should I go with to get that deep, loud muscle car sound or any other ideas around the same price range?
Congrats on the new C6!
I also recently just traded in my '13 Mustang GT on a '08 C6 and I don't think I'll ever look back.
Personally from what I've heard in person, the Borla's are raspier, and give more volume over the Corsa.
I have Corsa on mine and love them, so I'm a bit biased, but I do think that the Corsa's also give a throaty sound, and I personally like that they are tame at idle but really open up under throttle, I actually just shot a video of my exhaust 10 min ago and it is uploading to Youtube as I type this, as soon as it finishes I'll post it up.
I just bought an 05 corvette, it has a Borla on it which sounds great, a little raspy but with everything else stock it is not loud in the car. I have a Corsa extreme on my C5 Z06 with full engine mods and it screams, also sounds a little more european imo. Corsa makes two different systems as Im sure borla does also.. should have a mild system and a wild system depending on your wants.
Borla belongs on a Camaro or a Mustang! Too cheap sounding and not fit for a Corvette.
Did a side by side sound test with a buddies C5, he with the Borla and me with Magnaflow. No contest, the Magnaflow sounded best by a 4 to 1 margin!
I've had both the Corsa Sports and the TypeII Borla on a manual c6.
Cora has better tips and they gurgle on decell and idle like a john deere...Borla sound better but tips are bland and they idle more like a v8.....and the gurgle is the same.
overall borla better value/sound and no drone..imo
I guess I could have added that I get that burble on deceleration with my Corsas. Sweet music indeed.
Got on a freeway just a while ago (I'm home now ) and quickly accelerated to 70 mph. The sound of those Corsas was simply amazing.
Good times.
Had to ditch the corsa x-pipe when I added kooks headers.
Every loves the burble. And they scream when need. Pure American muscle, IMHO. Nothing "European" about Corsa's (or Borlas).
For me the sound bites were nice but I had to ride in each to ear for my self. I listened to both a Borla and Corsa live. Boral and headers were just a bit too loud for me.
