Default C6 Driver's side window

Have a 2006 C-6 that has been sitting in the AZ sun for several years. Thanks to all the comments - got the car running and it is super. Got everything working with the exception of the key fob - new fresh batteries and still needs to be placed in the slot in the glove box to start the car - BUT thats not my current problem. I got in - everything fine - started up as usual. Then put the window down on the Driver's side - it made some noise, but went all the way down - and stays there. I can hear some motor noise when I try to run it up but nothing works. My idea is that the rubber/plastic parts and things in the door have hardened/broke. Think it is mechanical - not electrical - but need some expert advice

Any suggestions, thoughts or recommendations on fixing, or is it take it to a qualified repair man and hand him a bunch of Benjamins. Appreciate any help from you experts. DD

Your window regulator cable has rusted, a strand or two has become unravelled, and the cable is now stuck in the channel, and your window is now stuck open
You will have to take your door panel off, cut the cable, and raise the window, and use a piece of wood to keep it up until you get a new or used regulator.
I just went through the same scenario, exactly as you described.
The passenger door window will have no indexing, but you can still open it, but have to have someone outside to close the door by flexing the glass inward to clear the top rubber.
I also replaced the driver side with a new regulator because it gets used much more often, and it was starting to make some noise (squeal) I kept the old driver side regulator as an emergency spare.

This job is quite easy to do yourself.

Once you get the door panel off, remove the rubber membranes, mark the window where the regulator brackets attach, and loosen the window brackets (10 mm bolts) Once loosened, the window can be lifted off the regulator, and up through the window opening on top of the door.
Once the glass is removed, then the regulator bolts can be removed (6) at eye level, and one that is accessed from under the door (towards front of car) by removing the rubber plug.
Unplug the motor harness, then the regulator assembly can be removed through the door skin access holes, and the new one installed by reversing the procedure.

This is what the regulator looks like

Hope this helps.
