I thought I had done deaf when I got into my 09 yesterday morning. Had done some shopping for the kids and got into the car and it was QUIET going down the road. I could carry on a conversation with my kids and listen to the radio.. and there was almost no road or tire noise...
then I remembered I had just had a new set of Michelin PS tires put on.
i tell people all the time get rid of those crappy badyear runflats the factory uses. they are the worst tire you can put on the car.
True, but even the Goodyears are pretty quiet when they're new. I still remember dropping off my 2005 and picking up my new 2011. On the way home I commented on how quiet then new Goodyears were compared to the old ones on the 05 with 20k miles on them. Everyone compares old worn out tires to brand new ones when it comes to road noise. Not really a fair comparison IMO.

When I purchased this car it had new Goodyears. They were loud then and loud when needing replacement, not really a notable difference new to needing replacement.
These Michelins are a whole different quiet than the Goodyears.

I put a new set of 4 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP tires on a few weeks ago. The difference is simply amazing. Ride and wet weather handling has improved 1,000% and no noticeable degradation to dry road handling. I drive fairly hard on the street, but do not track the car.

What a difference.
WONDERFUL.
I know just what you mean. When I replaced the original GY's with Firehawk rft's, I couldn't believe it was the same car...much quieter.
All tires will get noisier as the thread depth diminishes.
The GY RF's just start getting noisier at about 6/32", or just barely into the life of the tire.
Other tires, Michelin, Firestone etc, get noisier at maybe 3/32", and by then, it's time for new sneakers anyway.
GY F1 Supercars start at 9/32" instead of 10/32" for most other brands
1480 at costco with install. they had a 10% off until sometime in Oct Took a week to get the rears, as I think the tires are being discontinued. did I hear that right?
I'm going to go out this weekend and 'break them in'. Looking forward to 2mar-0
