First time 'Vette owner here. I am having an issue regarding the key fob. First off when i purchased the car it came with two #1 Fobs. I don't know why there wasn't a #1 and #2 so this could be the issue. Anyways, every time I get into my car and start it up, the saved memory function that I input is not defaulted. I have to manually push the "1" on the driver side panel for it to pop up my DIC message, saved audio controls, etc. Has anyone dealt with this issue and would be able to give me some guidance and troubleshooting tips to fix it. I would love it if when I got into the car and started it up, I would already have my default presets going without having to press button 1 on the driver side panel.
I know what u mean i just bought an 07 last month and it has 2 #2fobs wish i had a # 1 . What year did u buy and what does the fob look like? If its the same as mine we could trade 1 and both have a 1 and a 2 . Mine is rounded on the top and bottom and does NOT have a key inside of it.

Internally there is no difference between fob 1 and 2. Just put a piece of tape on the back of one of them and write "2" on it. Set everything the way you like and with the other fob 1 in hand push memory button on door till it beeps twice. Now put that fob in the house and with the other fob (now #2) do the same thing in the car and push button 2 on the door. Your settings will now be saved for fob 1 and the one you renamed fob 2.
The fobs become #1 and #2 because of the order in which they were programmed. For all you know one of those of its actually #3 or 4. This could happen when the original owner lost a fob and did the short program to.link the new fob.
The first step is to determine what numbers your fobs actually are. Take one fob to the car and find out what the car recognizes it as. Then repeat for the other fob.
BTW, of your car is a manual you will always have to push the desired button on the door.
how will i know what the car recognizes the fob? on the dic?
Each FOB has a different startup message (if programmed that way). Get in the car and power it up (with a manual just hit the start button WITH THE CLUTCH OUT, I don't know how to do it with an auto). Press #1 on the door, then press #2 on the door. The message that shows up on the DIC is associated with FOB #2. Press #1 on the door, the message that appears on the DIC is associated with FOB #1. Now take one of the FOBs and press unlock and see which message shows up. If it doesn't come up with a new message do the same with the other FOB. If #1 message comes up, that FOB is #1, etc.
Now you know which FOB is which (hopefully you don't have a #3 or #4). My local dealer has a box of dead FOB's, if your dealer does too ask for a #2 case. Probably no charge. Otherwise use the tape method.

As EVRose said, there is no electrical difference between a #1 board and a #2 board. It is only the number on the case. The factory shipped the car with a #1 and a #2. That means at least one of your FOBs is a replacement. If a replacement was programmed with the short procedure it is #3 or #4. #3 and #4 have no automatic functions. You need to do the long procedure to get a #1 and a #2 FOB. But since you have a manual transmission the seat position will never change automatically when you start the car. I have to assume GM didn't want to be moving the seat causing your foot to slip off the clutch.
I strongly recommend doing the long procedure. This erases all FOB IDs and starts from scratch with #1 and then #2. Even if the dealer already did the long procedure and you have a #1 and #2 there could still be a #3 out in the world somewhere. It's like changing the locks when you buy a new house. You don't have to but it eliminates one possible surprise.
