Tried launch control at the track today. either I am doing it wrong or my very average clutch start produces less wheel spin. You can hear the engine Rev at 4500rpm at the start of the video. However once I dump the clutch ... back is hopping all over the track. Any of you tried launch control at the track ?
Launch control is for drivers that are way over their head in the driver seat looking for a consistent launch time and time again, and if you even have the slightest of skill, can get the car out of the hole faster/to the 60 faster, and with less drive line shock by not using launch control.

I was under the impression that launch control always allowed for the optimal start

No, it for guys that don't know how to drive, and prevents them from playing sit and spin bouncing off the rev limiter (and gm throwing it in the car since all the other super cars have launch control).
On a GT-R, lots of money when into that system to get the car to pull like a freight train without wheel spin, while on the GM system, lets just say not a lot of effort on the system, and it's way more reactive trying to catch back up, then an active system that stays ahead of the problem instead.
Truth be told, the only way that you are going to get the system to work on a manual trans that you are dumping the clutch at 4K, it's either the clutch needs to slip, or the diff to slip against the drive line for all the wheels, since as soon as you break traction on the launch with tire spin, then it's a catch up game with reducing power/pedaling instead.
