I have 2 issues:
1) Outer lower sill panel under the car was damaged by a lift by the dealership during inspection. Cracked the fiberglass next to the Hockey Pucks location. The dealership says they have to repair the damaged, not replace it. Is this true and if not, should I push to replace it?
2) Rear hatch looks out of alignment after it was replaced. One side at the hatched end is higher than the rear fender. The rubber bumper adjustments being out are not causing the problem. Is it possible to realign it without replacement? Or, could the weather stripping be the issue?
Vette is the shop today..
Help - Thanks JD
The rocker panel is the only fiberglass on the C6 that I'm aware of. I see no reason why it can't be repaired. It's glued on and is a pain to remove the entire panel.
doesn't even have to be jacking pucks, just SOMETHING that doesn't overlap with the sideskirts, lol. I lift mine with wood without problem.
it is much cheaper to 'repair' it than to replace it. I would prefer replacement myself. you may have to fight them on that one. then you also risk paint match not being as good .. but end result should be like it was prior to the damage to be fair.
Rocker panels are glued on and are a very big job to replace...I would be happy with repair, especially since they really can't be easily seen. The hatch should be able to be aligned using standard body shop techniques. There's nothing unusual about it.

I've had two quotes around $1K to repair one broken rocker panel. It's not trivial.
I guess I'm curious: what are they going to do for $1K for 1 rocker panel? Is it broken in several locations? Are they replacing it---or are they filling, sanding, filing, priming, painting (maybe not in that order)? I'm thinking high: $140/hr labor, $X materials--say, $300=$700 for labor=4 hours???
Thanks for the input. It seems to replace it might end up worse than the repair due to matching the paint. I will go with the repair but will supervise it. If they were not covering all the costs, I would go elsewhere.

Not just the paint match but the installation (glueing) itself. When the "LARGEST GM DEALER IN DOWNSTATE ILLINOIS!!!" who sells lots of Corvettes and hosts the local Corvette club broke my rocker because they were too lazy to lift it correctly, I had mine repaired rather than replaced. It turned out fine until about a month ago when I hit something big on the Interstate and the cheap paint job they did became a minor issue. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...le-repair.html I'd still much prefer a repair than replace. If a big dealer can't even put a car on a lift without breaking something, would you really want them chiseling a panel off and trying to glue a new one on right?
