If you have an automatic and new onstar you can use the remote app on you pjhone to start your car from anywhere there is cell reception. I believe it runs 10 mins and then shuts off.

That works on the C6? I thought Onstar had no plans to implement on the C6 -- how does one get the "new Onstar" on a C6?
Duanepillar is correct... if you have a car new enough that supports remote start from the app, then you can start it.
The amount of time it remains on is the same as whatever the owners manual states for a remote start. On our Traverse I think it was 10 or 15 minutes then it shuts itself off. In other words, the car determines when to shut off, not OnStar. All that OnStar does is initiate a remote start the same as your key fob does.

The features you get from OnStar and the app depend on the model year of the car. I know most cars 2010 and older do not work with the features in the OnStar app.
I have no idea if any C6 cars are compatible with the app, would be something to take up with OnStar to see what features they support on the car.
My car is a manual so it does not work. We have two Chevy Cruze's in our family. One automatic on is a 6sp manual. The automatic starts from onstar the manual does not. My vette is also too old to have the remote start app I think it started around 2011. It is a great feature seems silly if it works on a 20K Cruze and not a GS Vette.
On our 2013 GS 3LT when you download the Onstar App I get a "Your registered Onstar vehicle is not supported by this app"
MY 2013 GS is the same. Annoyed me since the Chevy site, which knows what car I have, provided a link to the OnStar app. Like you I downloaded it only to find out that my car is not supported by the app. If the Chevy site was smarter, it would not link a C6 to a non-usable app. Nice waste of time and disappointment....
