I'm looking at getting some Pilot SSs for my GS and I've done my research online and by word of mouth. Issue is that everyone online says they get a lot of usage out of the tires but locally I'm being told a different story.
Since my GS is my DD, who else out there is running this tire on a DD and what type of life are you getting out of them.
Fronts are tread life warrantied for 30K, while the backs are tread warrantied for 15K.
So on that note, figure that you will have to buy new rear tires before the fronts are out of warranty.
So for $2K for 30K, you have DOT summer performance tires that will stick only second to Super Cups, but will allow you to drive in the rain (not something that you want to try with super cups).
Wish I could give you some first hand real world results on the Michelin SS's, but I can't. I can give you some real world results on the Bridgestone RE050A run flats in the GS/Z06 size, They are great tires and will last for 35,000-40,000 miles(front and rear).

I have those Bstones on my GS and am surprised (but glad) to hear you have gotten such great mileage from a tire with only a 280 tread wear rating. I was thinking/hoping for only about 20K or so. They seem to be the best option for a RFT in terms of wear...and seem to be a great tire overall for the GS/Z06 size tires.
11 GS Daily driver: After much research, etc. I went with the Michelin SS non RF. Had to go with the bigger sizes as the OEM sizes was never available. No issues w the larger sizes. Did the Phat alignment. 4K miles so far and the wear is minimal at best. Tires were 10/32 new.
fronts reading less that a 1/32 wear, rear reading slightly more that 1/32. Happy so far!!!
If you are not tracking the car or auto cross, reduce the negative camber on your wheel alignment. Mine is set a -.25 degree on camber, the tires wear out flat (not ripping the Inside) and the car is way smoother to drive.

Thanks! That is exactly what I am planning on doing. I only drive about 9k a year so this is good to hear.

My experience has been that negative camber up to .75 neg, has minimal effect on tire wear, probably because cornering tends to wear the outer edges. But even small amounts of toe OUT will wear the inner edges of the tires much more quickly, and also makes the car feel twitchy.
You want just a very small amount of toe IN, front and rear, for most use. Or 0. But never toe OUT, unless you are an overcaffinated autocrosser.
