I have a '06 Vert that doesn't go through the normal dashboard test cycle. Instead of the usual sequence, mine says Soft 1.1, then Boot 3.2 and finally EEPROM 1.4. It has done this once before and I can't remember what I did to return it to normal. I don't recall it as a big deal and it definitely didn't require a trip to the dealer.
The car runs and operates normally but the DIC controls don't work.
Most discussions about that have ended with the discovery that the "Reset" button on the right pod was stuck down. Try wiggling it and see if it pops out.
To add, if you have the buttons really grungy and sticking, easy enough to pull the dash bezel, pull the button assembly out of the bezel, then pull the button assembly apart to clean all the muck out of it with electrical contact cleaner.
Bezel it out far enough at the less than than the 2 min mark to remove the button section so it can be pulled apart and bench cleaned.
When you go to snap the bezel back in, make sure that the cabin temp sensor is still attached to to the ring clip section behind the slots in the dash just left of the start button (shine a line in the dash slots just before you final clip the bezel back in to make sure that you still see the blue sensor piece of the sensor just behind the vent slots).
