Hey guys, I hate the stock non-npp exhaust note so I took a look under the car to see what I could do without buying a name brand exhaust (not in the funds) and noticed there were no resonators and only two oversized mufflers. I went ahead and took it to an exhaust shop to cut the mufflers and weld straight pipes in. I am more than pleased with the way it sounded. No drone, deep growl, nasty at WOT, and lots of nice burbly noises
I was nervous to do this because I am super indecisive with any parts I consider for my vette but so far have made good decisions. I personally don't think the car is loud but according to my girlfriend and my guy friends, it is very loud but I don't think it is loud enough
I have a short clip of start up and a high rev but I will get some new driving clips since my old ones somehow got corrupted. Anyways enjoy!
I did the same thing to my wife's 2005 Thunderbird, and I had the muffler shop weld on flanges, that matched the factory mufflers. Then, when I sold it, I just put the stock mufflers back on. I quickly sold the straight pipes on the TBird forum too, for more than it cost me to make them!
Now, back to the vette - For my loud fetish, I put on LG Super Pro 1 7/8 headers, and got the best of both worlds. I know funds kept you from doing it, but when you can afford it, you can put your NPPs back on, then go from ticket loud to quiet easily. You will also get around 425 rwhp and 424 rwtq with the headers and NPP exhaust too.
Straight pipe is a great way to get excellent sound on otherwise stock cars. It still has stock cam, headers, cats in there which do a lot of muffling.
