C6 has a different style interior but the quality isn't any better. I just had a custom upholstery shop fix the drivers seat foam in my C6. The quality is no better than the C5 I had.
I have the POS $1750 factory NAV in my 09 and it's now 6 years out of date. Why? because I refused to pay $200 each year for the latest map update CD from GM. That's $1200 I've saved by using a $85 Garmin that has free lifetime map updates(four times annually) and is 1000% more user friendly. My factory NAV is used to fill in that hole in my dash, and allow me to operate the radio.
You are correct about the terrible headlights on the C5. I traded my C5 in on my C6 Z06 before I did anything about the headlights, but I was looking at spending around $900 to get decent headlights for the C5 before I got rid of it. My C5 was 10.5 years old when I let it go, and the headlight buckets never failed to operate properly, but I know of a few that gave their owners problems.
Now jumping to a 2007 or even better a 2008, makes better sense(to me)as there are considerable improvements(like the 436 HP LS3 in the 2008 model year). 2005-2007's need an aftermarket air cleaner to pickup some extra horses(that are starved for air), but the 2008> up has the same basic air breather that is used in the Z06).
The 2005 has the A4 while the 2006 has the A6. The 2005-2007 has the T56 while the 2008-2013 has the TR6060.
the 05 A4 has the strongest automatic ever put in any year of C6
Your bolt on A4 is not stock and neither is my Z06. Notice I said 505+ HP. Be careful saying you can smoke me(I'm sure you can out of the hole, with the auto and 3.73's). And I'm positive a stock C6 Z06 will smoke a stock 2005 LS2. And yes, I didn't bring up the Cd but I showed that the C5 coupe had a nearly identical(within .003) Cd od a C6 but I also pointed out that the C5 has to push a smaller hole in the air, to it's benefit. That means the C5 has less drag than the C6, meaning at the same identical horsepower level, the C5 will be faster.. Now I wonder what would happen If I put 3.90's in my Z06(as others have) and installed laughing gas??????
I think dennis50nj would put 49 bus lengths on your 505hp Z06
Yes, I replaced my heads with higher flowing heads from Texas Speed, and even though I did it to be pro-active I did gain some horsepower; 469 with a basically stock tune. Another 10-15 with a full tune, for around 480-485.
With drag radials, headers, intake, etc(only bolt ons. no internal mods) that can be installed in a day without compromising the drivability or gas mileage(I like averaging 27.6 MPG on a 2300 miles road trip to the mountains in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico)I think my car is capable of low tens(not with me driving it, but say Ranger), so it would be an interesting race.
Since this topic was originally about the durability of the stock 2005, does yours have a stock driveline? I know my 2009 C6 will hold up to 600 RWHP without worrying about dumping the stock transmission, differential and half shafts when I'm in playful mood.
yes I have the stock driveline stock shaft and differential 300m out put shafts and 2nd generation case stock trans with 3800pa converter and 488 rwhp thru a 373 geared shorter tire high stall automatic now. but was all stock with hundreds of runs at the track running 10s all day long
