I an installing an Altec Products C6 license frame and it is asking to remove some things that l questioned!
It is asking to remove 2 white OEM license plate mounting retainers to expose square holes. Also to remove 2 black rubber lower (directly below toward bottom) cushions.
Question if l decide to replace license plate frame can l replace the white mounting retainers?
And the most important thing is what is the best way to remove both the white retainers and rubber cushions if need be?
Yes, just keep the parts that you remove, and you can re-install them again if you remove the licence plate frame that you want to install.
Both the white retainers just pry out by using a flat screwdriver. The rubber cushions can be pulled out by twisting as you pull..
The white retainers can be purchased at any auto parts place for pennies, in case they break when removing them.
The small rubber mounts are a PIA to re-install, but it can be done with a small flat screwdriver by pushing the bottom of the rubber in the small holes.

I looked at that same frame and decided against it. I saw no reason for the backing plate. Made the install too complicated.
I went with the matching GM frame and two screws, that's it.
Fishing line used in a sawing motion should cut right through the tape. Then clean it up with 3M Adhesive Remover or Goo Off.
