Power steering fluid level question
Quick question. First there are no issues with my Power Steering ie. No noise, leaks or hard steering.
Have a 2008 Coupe. When I check the Power Steering level when cold, it is right at the cold full line. But when I check it when it is hot about 40 min highway drive to work, it is between cold and hot full level, not near full hot level. Do I need to add more?
Thanks,
Steve
Cold is cold, but a drive on the highway is not hot. The fluid is heated up most by the turning of the wheel. If you were to take a spirited drive on a curvy road, the fluid would be more likely to fully warm up and get nearer to the FULL HOT mark. Power steering fluid is similar (if not identical) to transmission fluid. It expands considerably when heated. This is why trans fluid must be checked when warm. Your cold level is where you should be.

My experience also.
