Years ago, I purchased and installed a front end "bra" on my 74 vert. It went on flawlessly and fit very well. I used it for a while and then took it off to wash the car. Where the bra contacted the paint over the wheels, the paint had dulled due to chafing. I could never get those marks to buff out. I plan to take a long trip in my C6 GS next Summer and am considering one of those stretchable front "masks" that are very thin. Any thoughts on how well they work and if they have any inherent risks to the finish?
Appreciate any comments.

I would not use a fabric bra, due to the scuffing you have seen.
Clear paint protection film is the way to go.
I just got a "Mask" for our GS and love it. We have a clear bra already on the front end so the mask can't scratch. You can drive in the rain/weather with the brand we have with no worries. Easy on, easy off.. Only use it on trips. Around town and short hops, I leave it off..
I think it's a great idea and far cheaper than the big heavy ones..

This is the GM bra I have for mine. It fit perfectly, with a soft backing next to the paint. It has been on three Route 66 journeys each lasting three weeks, and over 5000 miles in length. There has been absolutely no damage to the cars paint in anyway. Did it's job well protecting from bugs, and other flying debris. However, I do not have the bra on the car for anything other than road trips. Paint, and bras have come along way since back in the day. Got this one at my local Chebby dealer.
Remember, the thinner they are the less protection you'll have from rock dings. Clear protection is good, but if the right size rock hits it at the right speed you'll have to replace the 3M plus paint the bumper.
