Has any one ever fixed a broken sun visor hinge, is it possible? i hate to spend almost $300.00 for a new visor.
Just do a search on this in the forum. You can order a cover on eBay for a few bucks and repair it your self. There are videos on the search forum how to repair the visor, I did mine easy once you watch the video.
GASCAR has more talent than I, my attempt at installing the new mirror cover resulted in pulling the mirror assembly loose fom the visor. Others have had a similar problem, so I don't feel too dumb.
Next time, I'll remove the visor from the car (not always easy) and do it on my bench.

If yours is black I just changed mine to a home link and have a extra passenger side visor if you pay shipping I will give it to you I am in west virginia
I always advocated lubricating the hinges, but my passenger side visor cover literally fell to the floor one day on the highway when no one was even touching it.

I'll take the visor, thanks.( if op doesn't want it)
I have found that lubricating the hinges about twice a year with a few drops of household oil will keep them from binding and squeaking and keeps them working easily and freely. It's amazing what a little lubrication will do to keep just about anything working properly.

I did this, too, after reading threads about them breaking. Mine were creaking bad and moving hard. The lube took care of it.
Doesn't help the guys that have had them break already, but may help the guys reading this that haven't broken yet.

Hi, I used a product called rapid fix(kit is about $25). A very, very, very tiny dab on both sides. I used a small screwdriver to to hold one side up and pressed down firmly on the other for about 15 seconds(or mississipi's-lol). Once completely dry I put a little 303 aerospace protectant on the hinge to help the visor operate smoooooth.

Welcome to the "Broken Sun Visor Mirror Door Hinge Club". If you're not in it now, you will be someday.
Seriously, good luck in finding a solution that works for you. Mine involved Velcro.
I have the velcro thing going on too. I gave up on trying to install the replacement cover, as I created even more damage. Forget about lubing the hinges, as these visor covers will break even if you don't use them.
I refuse to purchase another OEM visor, as they are defective. I'm waiting for a clever, and money hungry, aftermarket supplier to invent a high quality replacement visor. There will be a big market over the years.

Jack,
I sure would be willing to pay the shipping for the passenger side Visor.
Thanks,
Bick
I will PM you
Hate to say it but I became a member about a month ago. My driver side broke and GMPP covered it because they classified it as electrical because of wiring for garage door buttons

Since when is a mechanical hinge an electrical part?
Typical insurance double-talk. Fight 'em.
