I have a 2012 base coupe. The issue with the heater is that it will
not blow warm air until I turn the heat setting up to around 85 degree
Any suggestions?
Could be a bad themostat, it's really easy to replace, could remove it and get a pot of boiling water and put the stat in to check to see if it fully opens, i would replace with a new one at that point regardless, just one way to see if that in fact was the problem before the new one goes in.
check what the outside temperature ready is on the display. I just went through this problem with mine. Outside temp was stuck at 75' which I believe is the default for faulty sensor. I had to cut heat up to high to get any warm air blowing
Never knew that reset thing. Is that in the owner's manual? I'll have to go look again. Thanks for the tip. To OP: if yours is a '12, it would seem you're still covered under 3/36 Bumper to Bumper (B2B). A trip now to the dealer might be helpful to at least set the process in motion vs. waiting until after your 3/36 has expired.
Thanks for the responses. I will try the reset. My car was originally sold
In Sep. 2011, so it is out of the new car warranty. But I bought a extended GM warranty
from Dennis back in June.
For what its worth have a look at the HVAC section of a factory service manual-you'll be amazed at how complex it is. Pretty tough for a DIYer to properly fix. PS: The factory manual recommends pulling the fuse for at least 60 seconds to reset the HVAC module.
But there is alot more to troubleshoot without a subscription to ALLDATA or a complete set of service manuals.
