I recently purchased an 09' convertible 1lt so manual top, I have only dropped the top once and when I did I noticed that the top doesn't seem to fold into the trunk flat enough causing the cover to not close flush. I'm hoping someone has had this issue and can point me in the right direction. The car has a full warranty but I would like to understand what is happening and if it is something I'm doing wrong.
I'm not doubting the poster above, but just in case that isn't the issue.... I'd rather check w. a pro who knows tops. Why? If you bend one of those bows, that won't be a good thing. If it were me, warranty or not, unless your dealer has a person who knows convertible tops, I'd go find a shop that does nothing but tops (and usually upholstery, too). It's worth a question to find out if it's just pressing harder, or an adjustment. jmo and 2 cents.
In my experience the rear most portion, the one with the window, has to be lowered into the well almost as if it's not hinged with the rest of the top. Sometimes it tends to hug the rest of the top and lowers with it and doesn't quite (separate) if you understand me, and doing so, makes it hard to secure it in place.

Davids65,
I'm sorry to hear about your convertible top concerns. I understand how displeasing this would be and realize you're seeking opinions about it. However, if you'd like to consider getting an official GM diagnosis, please message me privately as I can reach out to the dealer's Customer Experience Managers (CEM) for additional assistance. If you'd like to contact us privately, we'd be happy to discuss this with you further.
Update I brought the car into the dealer today with a punch list of small issues the top being one of them and a second issue with the top that I hadn't mentioned here. There is a small section of the head liner that has come unattached just above the passenger side window. I got a call from the dealer today informing me that they corrected the issue with the top opening (I'm not sure what they did as of yet) but they told me that the head liner is not covered in my bumper to bumper warranty. This is not something that was torn or damaged in anyway it simply has come apart. I'm not sure if this is an easy repair and I'm not sure way they won't fix something that looks like it has broke due to normal use. I'm pretty sure the roof is somewhere between the bumpers but maybe I'm expecting too much. I understand this is a used car but I spent close to 3k on a warranty that was suppose to cover everything, just saying.
Be advised, your $3K "warranty" isn't really a "warranty." It is a prepaid service contract, and you also use the words "bumper to bumper warranty" which you did not pay for with your $3K. If you look at the booklet that came with this aftermarket "warranty," if it is the GMPP one, it will specifically list what is not included. That means everything else IS included. If it isn't the GMPP one, you'll have to read and question what is and is not included. In the event it really is not a "covered" item, you may want to find out competing costs to repair/replace.
I bought a certified pre-owned and as such it included a 1 year "Bumper to Bumper" warranty this was their words not mine. It also comes with a two year full maintenance at no charge, this includes oil change and any other recommended service work. In addition I bought a GM extended warranty that covers 4 years and an additional 40k miles. I also bought the tire and rims coverage I left nothing to chance! Or so I thought If Bumper to Bumper doesn't mean Bumper to Bumper they should sell it as such! I asked what it doesn't include and I was told tire wear and breaks. I wouldn't expect them to fix a scratch in the paint or something cosmetic but this is a gray area I'm really not sure if I'm expecting too much if I am so be it. They are fixing curb rash on a rim at no charge but the head liner is where they draw the line
I'm not knocking them they have been very nice I'm just a little confused about this.
Hi David, I'd contact the Chevy customer service guy above that offered to help you, especially since it is a certified pre-own and you bought a warranty. Good Luck and hope you enjoy your Corvette!
I would go back to the dealer nd speak to the service manager about the headliner issue. If the car was a Certified Used Car the problem should be covered in my opinion. Good luck.
Did not know it was both CPO and a dealer sold car. That means it does have a one year B2B warranty. As above suggested, go back to them and state it's theirs to repair. But that aftermarket warranty, even tho from GM is not bumper to bumper. Take a look at the booklet; you'll see what I mean.
I don't like to bust ***** but they did say Bumper to Bumper I paid top dollar for this comfort level. I talk to them when I go to pick it up. I really don't want to make an enemy out of the dealership on my first visit. I know they think they gave the car away and as I buyer of coarse I think I paid too much but if it is a warranty issue it really shouldn't matter!
Thanks for the feed back I due appreciate the input!
If you haven't seen my new member post here is a couple of pictures of the car
If you look close you can see the lid isn't flush on near the drivers door
When I took delivery it said 11111 I almost didn't want to move it
Dealer photo
It's hard not to love this car!

There are plastic/rubber like adjustable bumpers that are used to adjust the alignment between the panels of the car. It probably took the dealer about 1 minute to adjust the bumper to align the panels. They are also located under the trunk and hood. When I got my convert it had a similar misalignment on mine and just turned the bumper a couple of turns with my hand and it lined up perfectly.
It is possible however it appeared the top was not folding into the trunk flat enough so the lid was hitting it and therefore not sitting flush. If the bumpers adjust how the roof lays into the trunk then very possible but if it only acts as a stopper for the lid then this was not the issue.
There was no contract for the Certified Pre-owned agreement not that I signed anyway. I don't have a copy of the extended warranty I will pick it up when I pick up the car. I bought the best I could buy so it is what it is. I'm not going to loose any sleep over this but I would like to know if it should be covered if not so be it. Will I be disappointed heck yea but it's a used car, far from my first and it won't be my last. I have never been a Corvette guy this is new to me I'm not sure what to expect. I can assure you my factory certified Porsche would not have made it off the lot with the top looking like this and I wouldn't of had to ask twice to have them fix it for free if it did!
The car looks like new so I guess I expect it to be treated as such but I'm not unreasonable. Everything else on my list is being addressed without any issues;
1- rattle in drivers door (this was driving me crazy and frankly made me second guess the purchase) They claim the found and fixed.
2- Drivers seat rocks, they are replacing the seat rail.
3- drivers power seat controls intermittent, they are replacing the control switches.
4- Roof lid not sitting flush with top down, they say they fixed this issue.
5- Curb rash on front rim rim guy is coming tomorrow to repair.
6- head liner (sorry this is not covered) I really don't think this is a big repair I'm just not sure how it attaches, it's not torn it just came loose there must be a way to reattach it.
My game plan is to own this car for about three years then sell it with one year left on the transferable warranty so the buyer has peace of mind. If I love it I may just keep it or buy another if I hate it I try something else or just give up having an extra car for fun. So far I'm loving it! My wife and I have been taking road trips on the weekends and enjoying time together!
I think if you will look at some of the other threads about the convertible tops headliner, you will see that there is a problem with a tear developing just above the corner of the side windows. Some are being repaired under warranty...some people are putting a black jean patch over them to make their own repair.
Hope this helps.

I have been trying to search for threads on this topic but have had no luck, if anyone could post a link or two I would appreciate thank you.
Make sure that the latch handle (the one right above the rearview mirror) for the convertible top is folded flat and not left in the open (turned) position when you fold the top down...it does take up a small amount of space.
