This may sound dumb but I’m not a mechanic so I’m just throwing this out there. I’d like different mufflers for my 2013 427 vette, I don’t need x pipes or an entire system. I have NPP exhaust and want to keep it. Everywhere I look they want $1,500.00-$2,000.00 for an exhaust system. Can I just cut the mufflers off before the NPP system and just before the pipes enter the mufflers and weld new ones in place of the old. If this is feasible who sells just the mufflers. Any help would be appreciated
Why do you want to get rid of your NPP mufflers by cutting them off? I love my NPP set up. It's one of the reasons I wanted it on my GS so I didn't have to spend extra money on an aftermarket system.

Hi Garye !!! I also have a 2013 427 with the NNP Exhaust. I just ordered a switch package called Mild to Wild Exhaust Control At Topflight Reproductions ( www.topflightrepro.com ) It provides a Fob that lets you switch back and forth between the NNP Exhaust functions. Instructions look easy it plugs into the fuse panel . I will post results once I receive and install it .

You can buy an "axle back" set of mufflers from any of the exhaust system manufacturers, which can be installed without any cutting of pipes. The factory system & after-market replacements are designed with exhaust pipe joints that are connected with removable brackets. The axle back systems typically consist of the mufflers & replacement "over axle" pipes that connect to the existing H-pipe or X-pipe.
I think he wants to install new mufflers and then attach the old tips (with the butterfly valves, etc.) onto the new mufflers. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Would have to a muffler that has 4 outputs I would think.

Ed,
I have the Mild to Wild on mine. Best MOD ever. Took all of 5-8 mins to install.
Hi MTsVette Glad to hear you like the Mild to Wild exhaust control and that it is easy to install. Does the exhaust maintain the stock performance and open at 3500 RPM or does it operate (open ) only with the switch ?
Thanks
Ed
To answer your question you can not cut and install a different muffler. The NPP system is in the muffler and works as a bypass. Why not pull the fuse and keep them open all the time. I think you would be very pleased with the sound.
One of our vettes is a 427 vert with the NPP and mild to wild fob. We leave it open all of the time for the loudest sound. I like it just as much as the Corsa Xtreme exhaust on our other one.
In a stock system all the exhaust goes through the muffler. NPP has all the exhaust go through the muffler when the valves are closed. When the valves are open the exhaust goes through the non muffled portion of the muffler.
