I swear since I bought my C7 the C6 is just becoming problem after problem. I went to lock the doors today and thought the horn sounded really weird. What's the issue? See video. It is quiet and has a weird sound to it.
Off topic...since buying the C7 just less than a month ago let's see...
Driver seat broke
Battery died
Subsequently a week later the alternator died
Now the horn is pulling this crap
Horns are actually two horns sounding different notes. The harmonics of the two notes get your attention without sounding for lack of better word "wonky". Sounds like one of your two has gone south.
well that's with the car off. Turn it on and drive down the road you can't even hear it AT ALL. How do I fix this?
Are you saying that the horn doesn't sound? Or that it is so weak that you can't hear it over road noise? The horns sit pretty low. Did you drive it during the recent rain we've been having down here? You wouldn't be the first to get some water in your horns and kill one and damage the other. What you want to do is test the horn voltages with a test light just to be sure you are getting the right voltage. And if that checks out you need new horns.
Like I said hit or tap one - since as someone else pointed out - sounds like only one of the 2 are sounding.
Still is not a big deal - turn up the radio & you won't notice...lol.

The horn sounds as you can see in the video but it's extremely weak. It's not audible once the car is running (loud exhaust). I did drive in rain recently we had some incredibly strong rain here.
Okay, where are they located and how easy are they to access? How much are new horns (if necessary)?

Right side of the right skid/fang. I can get you a price later. I get a discount on dealer parts for volume and no shipping. I'm not far from you. I could probably order it for you if you end up needing it. Just need vehicle year in case it matters.

i went to go honk at a mustang once and it was probably only the second time i ever intentionally used my horn in the vette and it wouldnt work. ended up being a loose wire at the horn connection under the front bumper. i would definitely check that first.
I thought it was going to be a two horn assembly that was a dealer item some GMs are like that. I work on Vettes and Cadillacs and some Caddy's are like that. But, GM just uses their "generic" (their word not mine) horns for the C6. I was going to PM you but they are widely available and my Vendor that would have the best price on them is closed and they probably would only be a few bucks cheaper than where I am going to recommend which is Amazon. Search Amazon for D1920C (low note) and D1978D (high note). Under $30/ea. Of course check your wires and check for voltage first. The ones on Amazon are the same as the dealer item they are just listed under the Delco number and not the 8 digit GM long number. If you ever get on this side of the bay swing by the shop some time, in either Vette.
