Has anyone used a polish in their corvette and had their cloth turn to a light shade of their car color? Happened to me and not sure what to make of it

Did you buy used? If so, it sounds like someone touched it up, because if it is ONLY the original paint, it should not show any color. Clear coat has no color (which is the only thing that should be removed, and only barely, with a product like that).

I did buy it used and was thinking the same thing you were, but I tested it on a inconspicuous spot on another part of the car and got the same results. I'm really confused here

Other than the obvious smart *** remark like "Both ends?", which I wouldn't do. , but now that I've said it, all I can say is that the car should not bleed color. If color comes off, that means it is not original, and most likely doesn't have clear coat on it.

If someone had this repainted prior to selling, for quick sale, maybe they didn't clear coat it. If this is true, it would behoove you to find out how much of this car is not clear coated, and fix it before it gets really bad.

If not all the car is clear-coated, it won't take long to see the difference between clear coat and not,

If that's the case I'm going to be pissed since I bought the car as a certified vehicle from a Chevy dealer 2 weeks ago

You are now out of my area of "expertise" (such that it is).

Maybe, someone will chime in who can help you deal with what is or not covered in your purchase agreement.

Good Luck.

Are you asking if there will be a paper trail?

Maybe, maybe not. If there is a paper trail on this, they should have clear coated it (and you wouldn't have a problem, IMO). That would be because a reputable shop did a repair and reported it, or not. Which is not to say that all repairs are reported. Even extremely good repairs (through insurance) are not always reported.

If someone did a rattle can fix to sell, it obviously wouldn't have a paper trail.

You could take it to a body shop, and they could tell you.

My '07 is Monterey Red Metallic, and I have done paint correction on mine and never had any color transfer.

That's because yours doesn't have a tinted clear coat.

Monterey red is a tint coat.

When using a swirl remover I have seen a little bit of red on the pad.

You provide very limited info, such as where do you live (because with hundreds probably viewing this thread, there could easily be someone who knows of a place to have it checked). But regardless, paint experts reside everywhere except in the desert. If you want to be sure, find a paint shop that specializes in late model Corvettes. Ask them what they think.

Not every shop intuitively knows (altho any shop can look it up) the year-to-year differences in paint and clear coats for Corvettes. For instance, my car one year it was a tint-coat; the next year it wasn't. You'd really have to know your C6 paints to know that little tidbit of info.

Good luck---I'd say it's nothing but it could be something else, too.

And btw, not all CPO cars are perfect---just certified to be in good condition, or to a set standard at the time of re-purchase. You may want to read up on what the selling dealer/mfr. means by "CPO." It actually does differ from make to make.

Sorry, I stand corrected. I wasn't 100% sure, just know that it would be really tough to rub through the clear on these cars with just elbow grease.
