I've noticed a couple of times in maybe the past few months that my '07 A6 Z51 is hanging around 2 grand for a couple of seconds or so before finally shifting into 6th. Anyone have any similar experiences? I'm not sure if it's just getting confused and I happen to keep letting off right when it is deciding whether or not to shift?
Fluid has not been changed since I got it, not sure about the previous owner. Was thinking that might be the solution based on things that I've read for other auto trans problems on here.
Not particularly aggressively. Not redlining it or anything, but I wasn't babying it either. I know... not a great answer haha. Probably more aggressive than baby.

how long have you owned the car? the transmission is very good in sensing if you are driving a bit aggressively then it will hold the gear longer than usual before upshifting, especially into sixth
From: Currently somewhere in IL,IN,KY,TN,MO,AR,MS,AL, or FL
In D or S? In S that is very normal. Not so much in D. S stays in all lower gears much longer when you let off the gas. D upshifts fairly quickly. The difference is very obvious when entering the interstate and having to let off to merge. The idea is that in S it expects that you will be getting back on the gas quickly while in D you are cruising and had gotten up to the speed you wanted to go.

how many clicks?
I've had it since April, but I don't think I've changed my driving style too much and it's only happened a few times in the last couple of months.

I originally thought the same thing, but it has happened in both. I just mapped a Diablo tune on Friday, so maybe that will alleviate it. Just want to make sure I'm not going to tear anything up. I'll go ahead and plan on a fluid swap.

As Al stated, it also happens to me when getting onto the highway, may be nothing...
mine sometimes take a little long (in my opinion) to shift into 6th,also glad to know it isn't just mine that does that.did change trans fluid at 100k per gm maintenance schedule at a chevy dealer.
coming home getting on the highway I got a bit aggressive...until the transmission was not convinced that I had cooled down it did not engage the torque converter
Did it again the other day. Held it at around 2k (if I remember right) at ~70 mph for about 3 seconds. Anyone with a good knowledge of A6 shift points see any significance?
