Seriously this should go in the off topic section, and not the C7 section. For one you had a C6 and replaced it with 17ft of some other kind of car.
Why? He was planning on buying a $100,000+ C7 Z06 and he stated the reason why he finally made the decision not to. I think his post was about the C7 Z06.
Finding and building a good relationship with a service representative and the "Corvette" person (mechanic) in the dealership can do wonders in getting good service. If they own Corvettes and they know you are an "enthusiast" so much the better. The dealership I use sponsers a local Corvette club I am considering joining as they may cater to them a bit more.
I too caught loads of sh#t from many of the narrow-minded members of this forum, when I sold my 2012 Grand Sport for a Porsche 911 Carrera S, which I truly consider an "upgrade" in overall quality..
You'll love the AWD performance of the Audi, and the German workmanship and materials are great.
I loved my Grand Sport looks and performance, but my experience with the inferior build quality of the Vette interior, and the mediocre service from Chevrolet, really finally made me say "enough"..
I still own my 72 coupe, and probably always will...
Best of luck with the Audi, and hope you'll end up with that C7 Z06, it too is a heck of a car!!!
Much like any brand there are good dealers and bad dealers. I gotta say, a dealer is the last place I would take my vette for simple things like replacing a TPMS sensor. Virtually any decent tire shop can replace those on a walk-in basis.
That said, its your decision, and best of luck with it. I'm sure you will enjoy the S8.
1) Weather reduced use: for a large portion of the country this concern maybe relatively insignificant but here in Wisconsin it confines my 427 convertible (and my 08 Z06 before it) to the garage more than half the year. You don't even need snow/ice; just the cold renders my tires too risky/ dangerous. While the new C7/Z fascinates me, I will not spend nearly a $100t ever again for a car that is unusable 6 months a year.
2) Service: when I ordered my new 427, I did so on the provision that the dealer would order certain extra's (forgeline wheels, Kenwood navigation, escort hidden radar, etc) and just add them to the bill so the car would be just the way I wanted it from day one. The sales people were great, the service people turned adversarial and used each extra add on as an excuse why other features (e.g. the radar was knocking out the TPS) did not work and why they could not fix the problem.
3)2013 AUDI TT RS: I still have my 427 and I love it during the summer
, but this is the car I drive the most and have the most fun in when judging from a total year perspective. The Audi dealer also purchased add-on's for me (e.g., winter wheels and high performance snow tires, subwoofer-amp) but they have never been a reason why Audi equipment does not work. Oh yea, in the 2 years I have had the car there has been no equipment that did not work in any case. When I take it in for mile based service, there is always a loaner.
I certainly can understand someone else going with another brand, but my next big car purchase will certainly be a AWD car that I can drive all year where the sales and the service people are on the same side: taking care of me.
Everyone could use a nice AWD vehicle. Audis are great, but I am really enjoying my uber-practical and relatively inexpensive Subaru Outback. The torquey 3.6L engine is no tire melter, but it gets the job done and is fairly easy on fuel. I enjoy it for grocery trips or road trips... like to the NCM in Bowling Green.
I'm actually not married, and here's what I have to put up with along with my 4 door 17 ft something.
Haha pwnt the forum with that reply that's great!
Enjoy the Audi. I used to own one (simple A4) and it was enjoyable for what it was. My only annoyance with the European cars is none of the speedometers read your true speed. Drove me nuts after a while...
quicker than 3.2 seconds to 60mph? I don't think so. Lol
sorry...here it is...why don't people ever believe me...Did the R8 just throw the race? Maybe it's just the V8 model. and it's not 3.2, it's more like 3.7
Great going! You didn't even have to change your outfit to go from C6 to S8! Quite the thrill I'm sure. Just being funny, not mocking.
Why would you expect service to change for a $107K car if the dealer you go to is the same one? Isn't that kinda like hitting your head against the wall and expecting it not to hurt?
I know the general area around you; you've got choices. Push comes to shove, there's always Abel, a bit away but at least they won't diss you or your $107K Z06 vert, right?

Ok. I was talking about the 40 valve V10 version. ...
I guess it depends on the dealer, I have received better service at the local Chevrolet dealer, with three techs that work exclusively on Corvettes, than I did at the Porsche dealership.
