Default Leaky diff help needed

Hi, this is my first post on here, I have a c6 2006 z51 Saudi spec in the uk. I pulled up into my drive earlier and noticed a pool of oil at the back.On starting the car I can see red oil pouring at a rate of about 1/4 pint per minute. As far as I can tell I have a leak from one of the pipes going to the heat exchanger on the rear diff, looks as though it coming from the point where the pipe enters the exchanger. Does anyone know how these pipes are sealed or if they are standard seals that I would be able to get anywhere. Also how the pipes are fitted into the heat exchanger. Struggling to find info on the forum for this. Don't really want to go trying to remove the pipe if I don't have the correct info and parts to replace available. Any helps welcome.

Thanks, eddie

I believe your talking about the line that goes from the rear diff. to the cooler. There is a small clip that holds it on. Once the clip is removed the line can be pulled out. You may have lost (or broken) the clip and the line is just setting in there. Forget what the clip is called but GM sells them. Someone else may chim in here with a better explination.

Yeah that's the one, I can still see the clip in place, and the pipe seems pretty tight which makes me think it could be a seal. Does the pipe just pull out once the clip is removed. I always break things when I guess how they come apart so I thought I would find out this time, especially as it's not the easiest car to find parts for in the uk .

If it's the same as my 07 Z06, yes. If you remove the clip, you can pull the line straight down to remove. When you reconnect, you can feel a click when you insert the line.

The manual states to replace the clip with a new one. Don't use the old one againl

I have a spare clip, if you need it, I can mail it to you. PM me if needed.

Those little clips stretch very easily. If they are stretched, they are no good and a new one is needed, as it might not hold the line in place.

The line might not be seated properly as well.

Me, too...that a c6 2006 z51 Saudi spec has a diff cooler.
But, the OP says when the car is started the fluid runs out. Sounds like trans fluid to me. Just sayin...

Thanks for the advice, going to see if I can get it on a ramp tomorrow and take the pipe off. Not sure if the clips are something I will be able to get hold of it there a gm only part. Thanks for the offer 2k, if I'm struggling will give you a message. Would really like it back on the road before Christmas.

Yeah definitely a red oil, is that tans fluid then? Is that worse if it is ? Didn't see the post by ruxvette until I had posted a reply. From what Iv read there's an electric pump that pumps the oil round.
The saudi spec car as far as I keep learning bit at a time is a euro spec car but with a few american spec parts.

There is also far more trans fluid than diff. Red is trans and has a fairly light odor, diff oil is not red and has a very strong sulphur smell.

Google youtube c6 transmission fluid change for instructions on how to drain, refill, and check for proper fluid level.

2 plugs in the trans. one for draining, one for filling, make sure one didn't work it's way out or last owner forgot to re-install it after a change.

I missed the Red part too. If it is the tranny, the leak should be ahead of the diff.

When I had my 07 Z, I had the pump go out and blow oil all over the back of the car. It was an expensive repair.

The pump is near the front of the trans and the driveline has to be pulled to get to it. Glad I had a warranty..

Update and also some help needed, the leak was definitely from the transmission. It's one that goes from the side of the transmision to the side of the cooler by the back diff. I took the pipe out of the fitting by removing the clip and then removed the fitting from the cooler. The o ring was a bit hard, so I replaced it. Topped up the oil, it took almost 3 quarts, so was almost empty. Thought this might have cured it, but it didn't. Slowed it to a drip though. Tried sealing it with instant gasket to no avail. I did notice a small burr inside the fitting, so could possiby be this.
Could anyone point me in the right direction to find a new fitting and pipe, or have any ideas as to what I could do to fix it.

Thanks
Ed

Found this diagram on one of the posts on here, but I'm really having trouble trying to locate the parts on the web. It's the ones labelled 15 and 23 anybody have any ideas where I can get these bits from?
Thanks
