On Dec 10 I picked up an '08 coupe, pristine, 24k miles, Z51, NPP, CRT, and LT3 interior. I drove it 600 miles home and then 1,400 miles to keep it simple, please limit your suggestions to one in each area. Prescott, AZ. I like the car; we're coming to understand one another.
Question: what do owners recommend as first add-on in the following areas:
Engine mods under $1000
Interior appearance
Interior convenience
OnStar - is it worth it?

I'm going to get a Passport laser jammer soon, a take-off from a friend's 'Vette. I'd appreciate a recommendation for an experienced installer in the Phoenix/Prescott area.
Engine mods under $1000 - Longtube headers and a tune.
Interior appearance - Replace all light bulbs with LED lights. Do not add anything that is covered in Corvette logos.
Interior convenience - Nothing needed.
OnStar - is it worth it? - Nope
first thing, congrats and welcome even the best deal on TSP long tubes will set you over your limit. A used Z exhaust system or a vararam a M2W and a tune will keep you under budget. A nice set of loyd mats, arm rest and tint should keep you going for a while.
Take out the fuse in the NPP for city driving. (You may want to replace it for long drives due to drone.)
Stay away from the bling: caliper covers, decals, chrome do-dads, etc.
Interior mods: stick with those that mimic original equipment. (leather for arm rests, console, etc.)
Enjoy your car for a while before making changes. Appreciate it for what it is. Then, after looking at this site, see what mods YOU like.
Enjoy
Congrats on your purchase and welcome to some fun times.
I agree with Evilface, replace all interior bulbs with LEDs. I did that and was impressed with the difference it made. I also replaced the back up and license plate bulbs with LEDs.
I also agree that OnStar is not worth it. Save the wave :

What are your thoughts on colored interior LEDs? As long as I'm going to replace the bulbs anyway (and I agree on the need) the red ones look good in photos but I've never seen them for real.
As to bling - no thanks. I'm mostly a function before form guy. My wife was the one who bought chrome for the Harleys 😉.
Would one of you save me the search and tell me which fuse controls the NPP?
To keep it real simple... Don't do anything to your new car... you have a really nice car why would you want to screw with it. Every mod you make costs you money and makes the car worth less ... real simple....

This is true (if you're driving around in a car with the 427)
Engine Mods: No suggestions. Interior Appearance: DSV's leather interior upgrades (padded center console lid with logo, instrument cluster pods, shift boot & shift ****, parking brake boot & handle, door arm rests, door handles). Interior Convenience: Vettebin and partition by Vettenutts. Onstar: Yes. (I found it very useful after a tornado 3 years ago wiped out the local cell towers and land line phones. It was the only way we could communicate).
