427
Quite a few 60th cars out ere with the LS3 engines , coupes, vents and grand sports.
ZR1 ones that have the LS9 were also available in the 60th trim.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Mine is a 2013 with 60th year logos in a number of areas.
However, this is not a 60th Anniversary Edition with the 427 block.
It is a standard LS3 436 hp 6.2 Liter engine. The car has simply been designated to show it is the 60th year of Corvette production.

Another disclaimer---I know nothing about motors, engines, etc.
What I noticed from all the ZO6 engine threads-------it seemed the vast majority---if not just about 99.999%----of those that had problems either (1) tracked and or (2) modded their cars. In other words, they beat the s#@* out of the cars and had a 'backyard type mechanic' doing the repairs and mods versus a reputable place like Callaway, etc. Whenever someone on the thread asked for those that had blown engines and HAD NOT tracked or modded their car to step up, rarely, if ever, was there a response. Even when one or two folks said they knew of 4 or 5 of their friends that had the problem and they never raced or modded their cars---when they were asked to have these friends share their experiences with us on the Forum, there was never a reply.
I don't think we will ever know what really happened with those problems.
But, I do find it very eery that the new C7 with the ZR1 package is having problems that sound very similar---metal shavings in the oil---these C7's also have that sump oil system. Sounds like GM came out with a bulletin on this and now wants the 1st oil change at 500 miles (to look for shavings?), and the oil can't be over filled or something. I don't know, but I just can't help bur wonder if there is a connection with this oil set up and the the C7 ZR1 package, the ZO6 and the 427. Maybe the tracking and modding in conjunction with the oil sump? Coincidence----Jehtro Gibbs doesn't believe in coincidences (have to watch NCIS to get that).

Not sure we will ever know the truth behind many of the reported engine problems, but even NASCAR blows up engines and I have to believe they have some pretty good mechanics!

Several months ago I read an article that looked at the valve set up on the 427 and their tests on various heads showed that the stock set up had the most stable geometry, whatever that means...In the last issue of Corvette Magazine the tech writer said he’d have an in-depth article on the 427 in an upcoming issue. This might be our best chance at figuring out if there is a problem or not.
Some guys have put twin turbos on the 427 and they don’t have problems. They still put the 427 in Camaros, don’t they? If it was an inherent problem you’d think they’d all be exploding in a rain of hot metal. Even though I have an LS3, my ultimate Vette is still the 2011 carbon fiber ZO6 .
That doesn't mean it is a poor performer - anything but. It's a screamer, but it's not big block.

As I've noted before on this forum, it is very difficult to modify a car and not sacrifice reliability. That is the reason I insisted on nothing but a bone-stock, untouched, virgin C6. (I have a different view on women
)
