Finally ............. No longer will I have to deal with Ally, G M's financing arm. Without question, the worst experience related to my Corvette purchase two years ago. And, shame on me for not verifying before hand what I was told I could do by the f & i people at Classic Chevy in Grapevine, TX. Ally will not let one make principal only payments nor, will they lower your initial interest rate if you re fi. Good thing for Classic, their Corvette service techs are excellent and, Charlie Evens my sales go to is a no b/s person.
I agree with you on the fine print shinanagans, you could have gone to a bank who will let you make extra payments etc., obtained the loan and paid off the old loan... Kind of like refinancing a home loan. Congrats
I recently purchased a new Ford and to get a $1500 rebate I had to finance some amount from Ford to get it. When the first payment came I sent the whole payoff amount

I see that you may be mad at the dealer finance people for lying but what did Ally do that was not disclosed in the papers you signed? I recently bought a Dodge Dart where Chrysler Capital was offering a $500 rebate it you financed. I asked the finance person what the minimum amount to finance was and if there was a prepayment penalty. I then had him show me on the documents, before signing, that there was no prepayment penalty. Took 4 days for the loan to get into Chrysler's system, and then sent them a payoff check. Cost me $13.24 in interest to get $500. I am happy with that.

This has nothing to do with what was disclosed in the paper work. I never said nor indicated that in my opening post. As with SiriusXM, the issue is that their customer service is lacking. They will tell you what ever they have to so they can end the call and go on to the next one. On more than one occasion I had csr's tell me that Ally would provide the borrower the ability to make principal only payments. That never happened in the 18 mos I had the loan. Also, nowhere in their loan docs is it mentioned that they will not grant a lower interest rate for a re-fi. As others here have stated, only if it is a 0% loan would I ever use ally.
Back when they were still GMAC, they focused more on auto business, and they were pretty good. Today, they have multiple lines of business and the auto finance has taken a back seat. 0% dealer financing is the only time to deal with them, today.
