I have the sport seats with air bag, and I removed the seats without disconnecting the battery. Once the air bag plug is disconnected under the seat, it's safe.

yet gm could tell how many times i took them out with a tech 2
Thanks all. Was weary of starting in case I couldn't get it back in same day. Now I can just work on it over a couple of nights after work.
it can be removed in less then 5 minutes, put a towel on the rockers, to protect from scratching also adjust the seat base same front and back and fold seat forward

I've had my driver's seat in and out about 6 times in the last week. First to install the rollbar, then a few times to fab a new race seat mount, then to go racing and swap seats there and again before coming home.
I think I'll get a friend to video how to remove a seat and put a utube link on the forum. If a Tech II records how many times seats are removed, the results better have 3 digit capabilities.
Haha thanks guys, but I meant I'd work on the recovering over a couple of nights, not the seat removal.
I drove over 1700 miles between last Friday and Monday without a passenger seat and without the airbag connected on the driver's seat. About 100 miles of that was with a race seat that had no electrical connections at all.
You won't have any problems removing or driving with unconnected seat wiring.
I just bought this 05 and the seat stopped moving forward\backwards, its stuck all the way back, which is fine for driving, but I cant move it forward to get to the back bolts to remove it. I pulled the front nuts and about $30.00 in coins from under the seat. I'm sure theres a coin or a habdfull fo them, in the tracks, I can hear the seat try to move when I hit the button, I'm thinking the motors going to get burned up trying to esy entry back n forth with the trcks bocked.
If anyone has an idea for removing the seat, moving it forward somehow, etc, I would love to hear it.

Had this issue on a C5. Had to use an open end wrench to get to the bolts. It was a slow process. On the C5 the issue was a bad seat control switch panel.
If as you indicated found a ton of coin under the seat there are probably some caught in the track. It is just going to be a slow process to get the two back nut undone.
Thanks Gary, I'm gonna try to blow it out with air compressor, I don't have a lot of faith in that tho. I can maybe teach the driver's side nut, but I can't even see the passenger's side nut in the driver's seat, rear. ...sucks, never carrying change around...ever..
Can anyone confirm this connector with the purple clip is the problem child ? I had the dealer run a diagnostic and it showed a bad ground in the seat connector, that was causing the airbag light.
Thanks! Yeah the airbag light is on, diagnostic says is caused by a bad ground in the seat connector. I wanted to pull the seat but I can't bc there's change jammed in the rails and it's moved back over the rear bolts. So I turned off rest entry for now and I'm trying to fix the airbag light. Hopefully done dielectric in that connector and a ziptye will shut that light off..
