Default Why do I even try?!!

Got a Blendmount rearview bracket/kit for my Passport Max and a new shift ****:

a. Followed instructions to install assembly on the back of the rear view,
wouldn't lock in. Added alittle force, rear view came flying off.
b. Thanks to this forum found out that it's "meant" to do that and put it
back on.
c. Saw that a small piece of the bracket had broken, glued that.
d. The small cable/wire to attach to the plug on the back of my rear view
would not stay on......stripped and broke one of the spade lugs off.
e. Went and bought another (better) cable at local car stereo store
f. Finally got the dang detector to turn on and off with the car (otherwise
the power button is underneath the mirror)
g. Was sent wrong shift **** (too small with three little set screws).
Need to return it to Corvette Mods.....
h. Thanks for letting me vent; it's all good but it was about five hours
of my time and I must have pulled that Molex plug off the back of
the mirror 20 times and my back is killing me!!!!!

LOL....sounds like me. The led bulbs in the mirror drove me crazy...took a week and finally took the mirror off. Led backups about killed my arms and back. Got a curb alert for Christmas and they put the wrong fuse tap in with it. I hate to be in the middle of installing something and then have to go to the store to buy something you need or broke to complete the install. Tried putting in corvettemods fog light leds yesterday but they would no fit. Have to return them. Getting to old for this crap!!

Murphys Law. That's why 2012 GS is staying stock. Only addition was Lloyd's Mats. Good luck with the fix.

I tried to install the Invisacord on my 2007. I gave up and sent it back. I was afraid of pulling the mirror off. So I know what you mean.

That's why I never try to fix anything anymore, unless I know exactly what I'm doing. I usually wind up tearing up more things than I fix.

I have found that lots of research will get you the correct item at the lowest cost.

Knock on wood, so far so good.
It also helps that 80% of the time my local Chevy dealer can match any online price for OEM parts and I skate away not having to pay the shipping fees.

This site is a good starting point for items you need.
Then you can find the pros and cons which others before you have found.

When researching HID fogs compared to LED last year, many on here said to say with HID for brightness.
The HID kit at 27.00 and replacement HID bulbs for around 6.00 a pair is not a bad deal compared to some kits which were three times that with a hassle if you ever have a bad bulb and need to replace one...

Of all the MODs/repairs I have completed over the years, only a handful have gone without a hitch. It can be very frustrating for certain.

Boy oh boy, aint' that the truth! Every time you think you have it locked in, all prepared, everything ready---boom, 3 hours later when you guessed that even you couldn't possibly take 30 minutes to do the job...... I learned from a friend of mine way long ago, sometimes you have to walk away to gain a new "perspective" on the job---so that I don't take a hammer to the thing and really break something up!

Glad you got it to all work.

I guess you saw my thread on the "easy" DIY. I have my mirror on again but no joy in getting power. I get to c*** out my back again today either removing the cable or getting the ********%#}{%%# thing to work.

If you have big fingers it's hard to get the wire to stay where it belongs. After getting the wire into the slots I ended up with black wire tie to the mirror bracket to keep it in place. So far it's staying in place. I guess I'm not the only one to get muscle spasm working on it. Some say they done it in 15 min. my guess is they are a lot limber then me. I was good for taking 1hr. +-
