Tire warranty has both a mileage amount and Year life amount (3-5 years for most).

Tires look like the ones that came with the car, but due to the age of the tires and now cracking, they need to be replaced.

Truth is, on a summer performance tire, you have about 4 years of sit life on them, and after that point, the rubber starts to harden (loose the tackiness of the softer rubber as it starts to harden, then the rubber becomes so brittle that is starts to crack, such as in your case).

As for the dealer ponying up for a new set of tire, don't hold your breath for a new set of F1's since the car came with no warranty at all, and this should have been caught during your Pre-purchase inspection.

The only saving grace, the tires are defective under the DMV guide lines, and if they sold the car with any type of goverment required inspection on the car (even such to issue temp plates) then they will need to correct the problem to at least bring it up to DMV acceptable standards (read will often just slap on the cheapest tires that can find that will fit the car).

Also, to point out, if the tires look like this, can only imagine what condition the gaskets and seal are in as well.

Since the car was sold with this condition of tires (cracking), I don't have high hopes for the dealer making it right with a new set of F1's (or any other high performance summer run flat tire's).

Thanks Tom. I already did a lot of research on them and past experiences of other customers and they are about 50/50 with good faith repairs on cars that left the lot with minor problems. I researched the BBB ratings etc. and also called the NCDMV and as stated this is an issue and they said they would stand behind me if the dealership does not make amends. I am calling a DMV fraud division today to find out what ammo i need to use if they say no to a new set of tires. I actually dont want the run flats so it works to their advantage. The tires will be cheaper than what i have.
