Default Why doesn't C6 recall work like C5&C7?

Hello. I just bought my C6 last week. My friends old C5 used to auto recall the seat to the "memory one" when the car was started without hitting the memory button. Watching the videos of the C7 it works the same way. It recognized which fob is used and moves the seat upon start up without pressing the button.

Is there something I'm missing in programming the C6 or does it just not do that like the C5 and C7. Seems odd they skipped out a year.

Thanks! And great forum.

If you are using either #1 or #2 fob that was programed into the car first and second the memory functions will work the same. If you are using a fob that was programmed into the car third or fourth it will not work.

It doesn't work for #1 and that came with the car. I still have to press the button. I had to buy fob #2 and it's programmed as 3. How would I re-set it to #2. Do I have to do the "long set up" to clear them all or something?

While on the subject his also would return to exit position when the car was turned off without pressing the button. Again, is this the same issue. I just can't seem to find any info on it in the forums.

If you do the long program procedure both fob will work with memory settings including the exit settings.

Not all trim levels had the memory package. What year/trim is your car?

Default Manual - No / Automatic - Maybe

Auto Memory Recall (Automatic Transmission
only): If your automatic transmission vehicle has the
memory package, you may have this option. This option
allows the driver’s seat, the telescopic steering column,
if your vehicle has this feature, and the outside rearview
mirrors to automatically move to the current driver’s set
position when the engine starts.
Press the OPTION button until AUTO MEMORY RECALL
appears on the display, then press the RESET button to
scroll through the following modes:
• YES
• NO (default)
If you choose YES, the driver’s seat, the outside
rearview mirrors and the telescopic steering column,
if your vehicle has this feature, positions are recalled
when you turn the ignition on.
If you choose NO, this option will turn off.
When the mode you want is selected, press the
OPTION button to set your choice and advance to
the next personal option.

Auto Exit Recall: If your vehicle has the memory
package, you may have this option. This option allows
the driver’s seat and telescopic steering column, if
your vehicle has this feature, to automatically move
to the current driver’s exit position when one of
the following occurs:
• The vehicle is turned off or in Retained Accessory
Power (RAP) or accessory mode and the driver’s
door is opened.
• The vehicle is turned off or in RAP and the unlock
button on the keyless access transmitter is pressed.
In order for the Auto Exit Recall feature to work on an
automatic transmission vehicle, the vehicle must be
in PARK (P). On a manual transmission vehicle,
the parking brake must be set.
Press the OPTION button until AUTO EXIT RECALL
appears on the display, then press the RESET button
to scroll through the following modes:
• YES
• NO (default)
If you choose YES, when you turn the ignition off and
open the driver’s door or press the unlock button on the
keyless access transmitter, the seat and the telescopic
steering wheel, if your vehicle has this feature, will return
to their stored exit positions for an easy exit or an
easy entrance when returning to the vehicle.
The seat and steering wheel will only return to the
stored driving position if you press the appropriate
memory button or activate the auto memory recall
feature.
If you choose NO, this option will turn off.
When the mode you want is selected, press the
OPTION button to set your choice and advance to
the next personal option.

Here is another thread that goes over some of the memory stuff. If you have a manual it appears that you will have to press the button every time. Seems they are worried about your foot slipping off the clutch since there is no way for the computer to know if the car is in gear or in neutral.

It's a 2006 Sunset Orange w/Black leather interior. It has HUD, Nav, Memory Seats, Bose and Magnetic Ride Control. I'm guessing it's at least a 2LT, but don't know how to read the VIN to know the trim level.

It's a manual, so that answers the question. I'll have to push the button. The old C5 work and it was a manual which is what was throwing me off. Thanks again everyone for the help.

Seriously...open the glove box door and you will see a list if all the options on the car. Feel free to ask for definitions if needed.

And DSOM is a great color!

Trim level is not in the VIN for model year 2006. That didn't start until model year 2010.

Double D to the rescue! Thanks guys. I think the best part of owning the vette thus far is being back on a forum. All these guys got J.O.K.E.S. and it's great.

Unnerstand...but the glove box never lies. And just who (whom?) puts gloves in there, anyway?

To get your "#2" to work you have to reprogram it with the long procedure. Moving the seat to the driving position is automatic for A6 when you start the engine but with the M6 you have to push the button. Moving to the exit position should occur with both when you open the door with the engine off. You can have different positions for each FOB. The button on the door will override the actual FOB identifier so that if you have been using FOB #1 but push the #2 button, when you open the door it will go to the #2 exit position.

On my 2005 manual, the seat and wheel do not auto-return to exit position until the handbrake is pulled up.
