Default Raced a Hellcat last night

I was just cruising around last night and started playing around with a New Hellcat.

After a little bit we pulled over and talked and looked at each others cars.

He invited me to go to an Industrial district and air em out on one of the back streets where there was no traffic.

We lined em up and I had absolutely my best launch I have done in this car. about 1/2 way through 2sd gear I glanced in my left mirror and could see him back there a couple of lengths, about the time I hit 3rd gear he came by me like I was not in the race. He must have been ten lengths in front of me by the time I shifted to 4th.

Make no mistake, those Hellcats are wicked fast. My car runs High 11's and it was not even a race.

Awesome, I can imagine how excited you were. Those hellkitties are going to hurt some feelings, especially once people start pullying and tuning them. Next time get it on video. When is this forum finally going to open a kill section?

Hellcat wasn't an auto I'm guessing if you got him off the line. .... or he had stock rear tires and it was below 70 degrees? A second year hellcat may very well be my next daily driver, they are impressive.

The Corvette is a stout car, no doubt about it and the most bang for your buck anywhere but it's not the fastest car in the world and was never ment to be. We can be proud in the fact there are only a hand full of cars in the world that are quicker and usually at a much higher price. I'm happy with mine.

The Hellcat was less than a week old and had stock tires and it was about 60 degrees.

While we were talking he told me that a set of Drag radials would be his first mod

He also told me he could downshift into 4th gear at 80 MPH and break the tires loose

^ break the tires loose at 80mph? That's funny right there. The lack of power and the rear gear ratio will not allow that.

It's also common knowledge that a 700hp car will beat a 500hp car - any day of the week - and it's just a waste of time. What are we supposed to discuss about this OP?

Your next thing to offer was to meet him at the track, the one with the crooked lines to follow.

A few of my life rules:
Slow down at places that are known speed traps
Don't pick a fight with someone named Killer
Don't race a car named HellCat

Mopar, the last 40 yrs lost a lot of street credibility but I was around when the old hemi's would blow the doors off damn near anything.

I talked with Tom Brady about this and he suggested you let a little air out of the tires.. he thinks you will win if you do.

Then you should not have wasted any time with a reply SFH

I knew I was going to get beat, did not care. I was curious how fast they really were. Large HP and TQ #'s do not always equate to fast 1/4 mile times.

Lack of Power??? You must be smoking some really good stuff

Not true, now equal the same car, one with 700 should beat the 500, but that even depends on the driver

Yes..........it's doesn't have the power or gear to spin the tires at 80mph in fourth gear.

BTW! I don't smoke..........sorry to disappoint you.

Didn't he disclose on national TV that he had NO KNOWLEDGE of air pressure issues?

Sure it was probably a given the Hellcat would win but it's nice to hear about a race like this to see by how much it would win. It's hard for me to see OP avatar but looks like a GS. I would have wanted to know how I'd fair in a race like that too. Would I loose by 10 cars or 2.

I just went o one of their forums and this is typically how they are coming up with the times. I just dont see how that can be an accurate timing device.

I beg to differ... If it's cold and with summer tires, its easy to to do.

I would spin going from 3rd to 4th at 90 mph with my 2008 C6, with the Goodyear RFs, easily 100 feet, when the road temps were cool, and the traction control off.
