Default is it necessary to remove the steering wheel out when removing the dash?

I think I'm going to take on replacing the AC actuators and blend door and my c6 Corvette. My only question is when removing the dash I've seen the online instructions but is it really necessary to remove the steering wheel remove the dash.

I know that it will provide more space but I'd rather not remove the steering wheel and deal with the airbag issues. Plus I don't have any tools to remove the lock & pin on the steering wheel itself

And do you really need "puller" tool to get the steering wheel off?

I read that you can just pull hard one side and the other with a loose center nut and it is able to come off...

I don't know if it's necessary but you may as well remove it to give yourself more room. Taking the wheel off is probably like taking the ash tray out compared to removing the dash.

I pulled the wheel of my '05 with no problem. No puller required.

Cautionary words from one who knows ("talon90"): pull fuse to steering wheel airbag FIRST!!! before removing steering wheel.

Forget the fuse,
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery, and wait long enough for the air bag systems to discharge instead (15 mins or longer).
