About the only thing I worry about on a road trip. Oh and speeding tickets.
Sports car and convert, a magnet for some a-hole
Better a spilled drink than keyed, I guess.
Hopefully, no more.
Monday morning I found a 2inch long scratch on my windshield. My car is a DD and stays outside 24/7. I clean the glass every morning so I know it happened Sunday night.
People are *******s. It's that simple. Someone walked by your car with a cup of coffee, probably with some friends and wanted to show off to boost their low self esteem.
And if you were to give the title and keys to that same person, they would still treat it like Sh8t.
Years ago, I had a 51 Ford 2 door coupe I had restored to mint condition. Came out of the mall to find a freshly lit cigarette laying squarely on the trunk. Burned about a 3" line in the paint. It is not just corvettes.
In the fall this year I parked the vette way out in the parking lot at the mall, no cars around. I came out and I could see an SUV parked really close to the vette on the drivers side. Still no cars around except the vet and SUV. As I approached my car a middle age man and woman exited the SUV and began to compliment my car. To this day I think I may have avoided vandalism from these two. Why else would they park so far away from the mall in an empty parking lot.
eta: I thought I would explain that reference a bit. Blue crabs put in an open basket generally won't escape. Every time one tries to get out, the others pull it back in. Much the same way that those in less fortunate circumstances try to keep those who want (or exhibit ) a better lifestyle from that, and will try everything they can to ruin that for those that try to make (or appear to have) a better life than themselves.
Jealousy of the tax the rich, occupy wall street, demonize the successful crowd. Only going to get worse as we deal with more of these scumbag mutants IMO.
Glad to hear no lasting damage out of it.
Probably thought you were a 1%'er.
Glad there was no serious damage.
I have my 'vette 2 years now, and so far no issues, but it's always a concern, and we'll probably see more of this kind of thing before it gets better.

Possibly too admire your beautiful Corvette?
Time sure have changed, gotta be very on your game to avoid crap like this.
During my younger lean years I often parked close to a beautiful car to dream from the warmth & comfort of my scowl, damaging one would've seemed to me sacrilegious.
OP: Many places these days are using DVRs to cover their businesses inside and out. Wouldn't surprise me if insurers aren't requiring it, either. Call the place, ask if they use recording devices and if they do if they've one aimed at the general direction you were parked.
With luck there might be a video/picture of the scumbag(s) in action.
People these days seem to think all is theirs for the using and don't give their actions a second thought. I would guess someone parked next to you, either got out with, or came back with a beverage set it on your car because everything is for everyone to use as they see fit right? When they reached for the beverage after they opened or closed their car they spilled it. At least I hope that's what happened rather than outright vandalism.
Those same people are coming for your savings accounts to pay for "free community college for all".

It's good to give "people" the benefit of the doubt but I doubt it happened that way.

The wife and I went to the Oakleaf Restaurant.in Pittsboro,N.C.,a favorite brunch we have always enjoyed,on returning to car I saw something on top thought maybe bird but to my dismay discovered someone had poured a cup of coffee with cream and sugar on top and ran all down the back and side of car,it was obvious it was poured not thrown.I had parked on back of lot away from any other cars.of course the sun had baked it ,took it home was able to clean with no damage to finish.afterthought I quess I was lucky, it was no worse.what the hell is wrong with people. We want be going back!!!Just needed to vent
What are any of your bad experiences?:confusedk
I would be pissed too, but they could have poured some chemical on it.

The person who did this, may have had an unhappy childhood, suffered from bullying, had a mother on drugs, or a father who abandoned him.
Perhaps a recent rejection by a girlfriend. Could be any number of things.
No one is responsible for his own actions these days, try to understand.

Slightly disagree, Mr. H. EVERYONE is responsible for their actions. But there are people who, after publicly taking "RESPONSIBILITY" have no consequences other than the words, "I take full responsibility." So, what does it mean to "be responsible?" Nothing, if there are no consequences, no action, no embarrassment, no shame, no nothing.
And then there are those who take no responsibility for their actions, or who do bad things on purpose...and they are just cowardly pigs.

Oh come on Bill, certainly you must realize that my comments were sarcastic?

Lucky for me, 3 C6's in 10 years and the only damage was done at the dealership.
Not to make light of your situation, I've seen some pretty nasty damage done here on the Forum. As long as there was no permanent damage, I'd say you got lucky.
