I added a new MGW short shift kit to my C6 GS Conv and have one small problem. I bought a new leather shift boot from Redline and it's very nice BUT I can't get the top of the boot over the bottom of the MGW racing ****/set screw to cover it, I just can't seem to stretch it far enough (so close) and I (obviously) don't want to damage/tear the top of the new boot.
Any advice yon C6 pro's? Murphy's oil soap? Conjuring magic spirits?
Did you contact Redline? Is the top of the boot sewn close to where it fits over the set screw? If not, then unglue the curl, then curl it down a bit further, and reglue it. That will make the opening a bit larger.
If it is sewn close to the top, it's going to be really tough to stretch due to the threading. The only other thing you could do is sand of a bit of thickness to the plastic piece that it fits over.
