Hopefully it only needs lubrication. When you take the door panel off, look closely at the window regulator cables to see if it's frayed. If so, you will need to replace the regulator.
I did both of mine this past summer, one had a frayed cable, the driver one was Ok, but I replaced with a new one, just so both would be new regulators.
My driver side regulator was actually in perfect condition.
