Default Picking it up this weekend.

So i'm picking up a vette i bought this past weekend. Any recommendations on what to put on the front of the car to protect it from rock chips ect for the 400 plus miles home.. I heard that Scotch tape works and the guy im picking it up from said to plasti dip the front bumper then remove it when i get home. Any good recommendations?

I'd also say just drive it. Clear bra when you get home if you're worried. Just stay back from cars on your way home. If you really want to put something on plastidip and tape works.

1st, Kudos on your new 'vette!

2nd, I wouldn't do anything but drive carefully, and respect the power.

Even after you're very familiar with it, still respect the power.

If you're really concerned, cover the bumper with blue painter's tape.

It will remove easily, and cause no harm.

Good luck!

I'd agrree, drive it home, and then apply a level of protection...
You should search here for "plasti-dip", "protective film"...

I had Expel applied to mine and love it. Easy maintenence too.

I agree with everyone else. Just drive it and enjoy it. I drove 600 miles to get mine. I didn't have any issues. If you are worried though PepBoys sells stuff it's like heavy duty Saran wrap. You can wrap your entire front end and cut out the saran wrap for the air vents.
Good luck.

I picked up my car and drove it home about 450 miles. It made it home just fine but if you are worried about it what everyone has suggested will help.

I drove mine over 200 miles in a slushy, rainy mixture over a mountain pass right along side semi trucks to get it home. Everything was fine after. Of course, I didn't want to.

If the weather's nice try to avoid freeways and take some two-lane twisty rural back roads on your way, the freeways seem to be the worst places to get sandblasted by road grit and pebbles. Drop the top and enjoy the drive.

I've heard painters tape will do the trick as well... If you thought enough to ask the question...you'll be kicking yourself if you don't protect it and it gets chipped on the drive back...it can happen whether you're driving 400 miles or 4 miles...give yourself some peace of mind

Yesssir! Do not forget the photos!

If it makes you feel any better, here's a photo of the windshield being replaced in my brand new 'vette when it was just a few months old.

At about 60 mph, a truck passed and cut close in front of me, and threw a stone, putting a large chip in the glass right in front of my face.

It's a car, and sometimes chit happens. You can't obsess over it, just enjoy!
