Default Nav System

New to the forum, love the site. I have a C6 11 GS 3LT, New to me and am thinking of putting in a Kenwood DNX771HD due to my Vette not having a Nav system. Would like to know if anyone has installed one and your opinion of it. Thanks in advance.

Move this over to the audio section and you will get lots of advice. Also contact Dennis at Double D Mods he is the best.

I installed the DNN991HD and I like it.

I also added a front and rear camera for parking.
I bought everything from Dennis and Double D Mods, he pre-wired everything and made the install super easy.

built-in Garmin navigation, I've used Garmin for years and it's my favorite

Just be aware of the problems with Crapwood (kenwood). Go over to the KenwoodForums.com and you will see all the issues listed. Make sure you are prepared to deal with them so you are not surprised. Problems include:

* Extremely slow boot when you fire up the engine.
* Random reboots
* Randomly looses all your settings
* Laggy screen
* Hardware that breaks and you have a hole in your dash for a month or more while you wait for Crapwood to honor their warranty.
* No software updates once the model is a year old - they want you to buy the next model if you find a bug.

Caveat Emptor. I have a 990HD but I suspect the issues are similar for the model you are looking at.

I've gone to several audio shops and they all seem to steer me to Kenwood, what are some that are comparable that don't have issues but who also have Garmin?

I've had my Kenwood DNX6960 in my '08 for 5 years without any problems whatsoever. I love ths system. The nav has been right on, the bluetooth finds my phone every time, and quickly. The Sirius satellite radio reception has been just fine and the back-up camera has worked flawlessly. I bought the unit from Dennis at Double D Mods and could not be more pleased with the unit, the service and the price.

Two or three years ago, I bought another Kenwood (DNX 6990) for my Chevy Silverado 1500 LT pick-up. I have had the same great results with it......... no problems at all. I highly recommend Kenwood and Double D Mods.

If you want Garmin, Kenwood is it. I have read about the problems but have had none.
