Does anyone know where I can get the backing nut and clip for the rear tail lights on a C6? The dealer parts attendants can not identify them on the parts list and give up. I had a tail light break and come out of the socket while driving. The fastener is missing. I have the replacement light. So far I have struck out on my internet searches. Thanks.

Sure - I lost a nut/clip also. Correct, they are NOT on the parts list! -- #6-32 tpi Plain Steel Type U Speed Nuts (Home Depot). Got this info from Southern Car Parts.
Take one of the other ones out and go to Lowes or Home Depot. They will find a match.
And be very careful when putting the new taillight back in...it can push the speednut out of place and it will drop behind the rear fascia...possibly gone forever.

Oops... when I put the tail lamp back into place it pushed the u-nut off and I heard it fall into the cavernous rear bumper area. Reached in but could not feel it. Was going to get another u-nut but knowing that a part was loose inside the bumper would drive me nuts - pun intended. I loosened the 4 screws on that side of the lower cover of the bumper and felt around trying to find the part. No luck. Then I had the idea to slap the loosened cover and voila! The u-nut fell to the floor where I grabbed it and carefully finished my install.
LOL, I thought I was the only chuck to drop one of those damn nuts. I usually can find them in some far away place...but not today.
The part number for the nut is 11561294
Don't know of any dealer that stock them, I ordered a crap load from Vans in Scottsdale so I'm set for life :-)
