Default Steering wheel

How many C6 owners feel that the steering wheel on their Corvette is too big? I recently rented an Impala and, I swear, it's the same wheel! My DD is a Mazda CX-7 and the wheel on that truck is smaller. Any after market suggestions?

I feel the same way, but when considering the cost of an aftermarket wheel, I seem to be able to enjoy mine more.

Default went aftermarket myself

although what I wanted was a fatter, D-shaped dual leather alcantara version; 6 bills later I am really enjoying it

Ever notice how big the steering wheel is in a NASCAR race car ...

And right up in the driver's chest

The 2012+ steering wheels not only look much better, are reasonably priced, keep your steering wheel controls, and bolt right on; they are also smaller diameter!

Well, the C7 wheels are smaller than the C6 wheels, but I never heard of the 2012 wheels being smaller. Where did you get that information? Did you measure them? I'll admit, I did not measure my 2012 against my 2011 when I swapped mine. Didn't notice a difference in size.

I don't think so. Yes, the wheel was restyled for 2012 but the diameter stayed the same.

AFAIK, the only change in diameter on the C6 steering wheel was when the diameter was reduced from 2005 to 2006, and stayed the smaller diameter through 2013.

There have been other changes in appearance, controls, etc; but not in diameter.

GM parts direct has an OE wheel for about $245.

Maybe they're not supposed to be but I measured my new '12 wheel .5" smaller than my '08. Just remeasured it right now, same thing 08 14.5" 12 14". Tried to take pics but it wasn't working. Maybe there is a +or- .25" dia tolerance and I got the two extremes? Anyhow I like it.

Edit: see post 3 here. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1588927762

Not that some random for trade post is definitive proof but I may not be the only crazy one...

I think it's the right size ... seems to be the same size as in my Caddy ATS and my Forester. I wouldn't mind a D wheel, and one with "bumps" at the 10 & 2 positions though. The bumps feel good to me. The center logo is a bit plain Jane. Other than all that, I like it. Seems to have pretty good leather on it, as opposed to the rest of the leather in the interior.
