Looking at caliper covers
First off do they actually reduce brake dust? Second, I have a silver Vette and was looking for advice on what color I should go with. Silver with black lettering or red with silver lettering?? The stock black calipers aren't doing nothing for me.

I'm having a set installed today I will post a picture when I pickup the car I hope they look good! I agree they look cheap from up close but from a few foot away I think they look fine. If someone is going to kneel down and examine them they will notice they are fake.

To some they look cheap, to others they look fine. Your car your money you don't need our permission to do what ever you want to your car. However if you are asking that leads me to believe you may not be sold on them.

They are way too big and to me they look comical. Although I have never heard of this happening, I would worry about the damage one would cause if it ever came loose while the car was moving. $200 for giant covers or $25 for paint and you can do it yourself in one day.

In full disclosure, I put them on my last car because the calipers looked really bad, and paint would not have helped. They will not reduce brake dust at all....only fix for that is ceramic brake pads.
On my Vette I would never install them. You could paint yourself, or have them swapped out for a power coated set as an exchange.
There are a lot of threads with examples here and they look nice.

I don't agree. The MGP covers look very sharp and clean to me. If you paint your own they will never look as good as when they were first done. And eventually they will have to be redone. The MGP covers function as a "heat sink" allowing your brakes to run cooler. You can get them to match your body color whatever it is. If you get tired of the look you just take them off. The painted calipers will have to be taken apart and redone. When the early covers came out I would agree the workmanship was poor at best and I think they used plastic. EV-why do you say they look cheap? I plan on getting a set in the DSOM color. Dog me if you want I can take it. I'm not ashamed to say I like them

It's just my opinion. They look like you're trying to imitate GS calipers on a non GS car. And they do not act as heat sinks. If anything they prevent air from getting to the caliper. Painting a caliper does not require it to be taken apart. I didn't even take mine off the car when I painted them. they still look the same as they did two years ago. You can use caliper covers if you want. I just happen to not like them.
