Default Homelink programming

I have a 2007 convertible with the 3 button, 1 LED homelink.

Tried programming it today. Pressed learn on the opener, and couldn't get anything to work. The manual says hold the homelink button for 2 seconds, release, 2 seconds, release, 2 seconds, then it should be programmed.

Usually it's just press learn and hold the button in.

I have quite a few remotes programmed to the garage door. My tahoe programmed no problem, my wife's Ford Edge was a pain but we eventually got it.

Any ideas? We have a 2005 Craftsman garage door opener. I even programmed a wifi adapter to it, so I don't think the opener is the problem.

Thanks

Thanks, I did a search but I'm not seeing a lot of threads for some reason.

Once I pulled my car in the garage I was able to get it to program. It wouldn't work just outside of the garage.

The homelink website says to use an existing transmitter. I think that's wrong.

After programming one door, I tried to program the other door and then both doors opened with one button. D'oh.

Restarted by holding outside buttons for 20 seconds. Then restarted. It looks like a working remote is required. This worked for me....

To program a rolling code compatible Homelink® system, please follow these steps.

1. Press and hold the two outside buttons on the Homelink® system until the LED starts to blink, release buttons

2. Press and hold the desired Homelink® button and the transmit button on your rolling code transmitter at the same time until the Homelink® LED changes from a slow blink to a rapid blink. (Your Homelink® system is now programmed)

3. Locate the learn code button on your garage door opener. (These are located under the light cover or on the rear panel depending on model)

4. Press the learn code button on the garage door opener, a red LED will start to blink. (You will have 30 seconds to complete programming)

5. While the LED on the garage door opener is blinking, return to the vehicle and press the pre-programmed Homelink® button 4 times. (Or until the garage door operates).

I have the car2u....had to call the opener mgf for help. Got it to work after the call. To get the door to open from the outside I have to be very close to the door with car and fold the visor down. I have a steel garage door that is insulated. The remote that came with the door opens it farther out which means the car's opener isn't as strong as the door's opener. Try calling the opener mgf and see if that helps.....

Can't say what your particular problem is. But in my case I spent about a total of 3 hours cussing and kicking the dog (not really) trying to get mine programed. turns out I had been pressing the wrong button the whole the time. The button I should have been pressing was kinda hidden inside the main housing of the opener. Just be sure you are following instructions to the tee....and are pressing the correct buttons. Good luck.
