Hey Folks,
So I have been finding all the little gremlins in my new to me 2010 GS. Today, I noticed that when I hit the active handling button, NOTHING happens. On my C5 it comes on and off. Not so much on my C6.
Any thoughts?
On the C6, you need to press and hold the button for 5 seconds to turn the AH off. I believe to simply turn the TC off you need to press the button twice. The AH is still engaged, but the TC is off.
Maybe it's okay, maybe it isn't. Here's a list of the different features of that button. Try a couple of different ones to be sure whether the button is working or not. You might want to save this list.
Traction Control
There are 4 separate modes:
1. Traction Control - On .... Active Handling - On (Engages when the car is started)
This is the default mode.
This is recommended for normal driving.
2. Traction Control - Off .... Active Handling - On (Engage with 1 push of the button)
Turning off TCS allows the rear wheels to spin, but allows the Active Handling to fully assist in skid control.
This is recommended for drag racing.
3. Traction Control - Off .... Active Handling - Reduced (Engage with 2 pushes of the button)
This is the Competitive Driving Mode which allows the rear wheels to spin, while reducing some of the input that Active Handling has to assist in skid control.
This is recommended for road racing.
4. Traction Control - Off .... Active Handling - Off (Engage by holding button for at least 5 sec.)
This may be used when the driver does not want any on-board sensor input that may effect power reduction or brake application.
No rear wheel spin or vehicle skid corrections are automatically applied.
Note: The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) is always on and is unaffected by the various Traction Control or Active Handling selections that may be made above.

Have you (or the previous owner) had the center console removed recently? (radio upgrade, shifter upg, etc) The trac control button is a tiny little connector, and is easy to miss/forget during console re-installation, or to have it not quite pushed in far enough to lock in. It wont throw any codes if it is disconnected -- it just wont work when pressed.
The first thing I'd do is pull the center console and make sure the wiring is *actually* connected to the button.
