Default Need Tech2 for F55 codes??

I have a 2009 Vert with the f55 option and am getting the "service selective ride" and "limited to 158 MPH" DIC messages.

My question is….is there a scanner out there that can pick these up or is there no other option then going to a shop or buying a Tech2?

I am in the Cincinnati area.

TIA!

Tech II is not the only tool that can read the code, so ask around to the independents. I'd take a good look before doing anything, to see if a wire was broken, pinched, or if one of the sensor rods became damaged or disconnected. In the meantime, your car will function fairly normal, except for how well the shocks react.

Thanks for the reply!

Maybe I should have given the whole story up front instead of just where I am now.

I've done searches and read everything I can find. I've done a visual inspection of all the parts and even have the car apart with a pinout of the ESCM and have been checking continuity in the wires out to each part, good grounds and main power to ESCM, resistance through each shock (less then 2 ohms, is that OK?) and power at each shock connection. This is about all I can think to do without just guess and I do not want to start throwing parts at it without KNOWING what is actually the issue.

Does anyone know a few of codes this system throws? Maybe related to both the shocks and position sensors? I have access to the fault maps so perhaps following a few out would lend to some insight.

I prefer to be able to pull the codes myself but not sure if I can justify buying a tech 2 to do it so if anyone has experience with a less expensive scanner that talks to this system that would also be helpful--I will also ask some of local shops to see what they use.

You are way farther into a diagnosis that I would have ventured without pulling the code first.
When my problem appeared, I did the visual inspection and when nothing was obvious, I found someone to pull the codes. He even came to my house and wasn't going to charge anything either. I gave him $20 despite him refusing it. A quick check in my service manual lead me directly to the problem and a 5 minute repair. His code reader (not a Tech II) handled many different brands.

The back story to the back story is that the reason why I went throuth the efforts I did is because I was trouble shooting an ABS/traction control issue which is why the car is apart. The issue I found and fixed was a GMLAN communication error between the BCM and the EBCM. I had hoped that it was all related but turns out, there are separate falts.

Do you remember what your repair was?

Mine was simply a pinched wire (C0585 01 short to voltage on the left rear) that happened during re-assembly when I swapped torque converters.

I purchased a scanner made by icarsoft (model 900 for GM). I actually had one for a BMW a while back that communicated well all the various ecms in the car which is why I went with that brand.

It was throwing C0615. At first it looked like the front left position sensor was bad. With the scan tool I check the output to the ESCM and it did not change with the travel of the wheel. I checked ground and power to the sensor and the signal voltage back to the ESCM which was all good. I then removed the position sensor dissasembled, cleaned, reassembled and with me moving it by hand the signal voltage would oscillate.

After reinstalling it, same result...

The actual problem was that the position sensor was out of alignment and would not rotate properly. All in all it really didn't take too long to fix and best I didn't need any new parts.

Btw I would absolutely recommend that scanner. Clear color screen and talks to all major ecms with live data.
