I recently switched my factory head unit and put in a pioneer touchscreen with bluetooth etc...I have a 2006 convertible. The stereo sounds so much better with the new head unit. I actually bought and used the Bose interface so the amps and, onstar, etc would work correctly. I am thinking about replacing the rear speakers just to get some better sound. The Bose in the doors sound good and give off a decent amount of base. Has anyone done this upgrade and is it worth it?

I replaced my head unit with a Kenwood unit. The Bose system came alive. I then replaced the door tweeters and the rear speakers. The door tweeters make a big difference by making the lyrics clearer and brighter.
The rear speakers not so much. But I DID disconnect the front center speaker which helped improve the stereo imaging a lot. Even if you do not replace the speakers I mentioned, disconnect the center front speaker. (The center speaker is considered a fill in speaker and is wired in mono). When connected, it hides the right and left speaker stereo imaging by blending the sound. Almost no stereo imaging with it connected. You should hear a difference once this speaker is disconnected with your Pioneer. I get good base with the Bose thumpers now that the Kenwood unit is pushing them.

Great info. What kind of door tweeters did you use and did you use the bose integration piece? Also what size are the tweeters? Did you have to build any kind of plates?

If you are using the Bose amp, then use these for upgrades for the 3.5 and 5.25 speakers.
As for the center speaker, either unplug it, or put in a 2ohm @10W resistor in line on it positive wire to back it down for lighter center fill instead.
As for the other Kicker KS/CS/ other brand speakers, the Bose amp does not put out enough power to make then efficient.
Also, just a FYI, but only the 2- 3.25" speakers in the doors are stereo on the bose amp.
The rest of the speakers are mono channel instead, including the two in the back.

DANO523 is right on. Those are the speakers I used from DD Mods. Directly bolt in. DD had the adapters for the harness. Not expensive but worth EVERY penny.
